Fender TSL: Do the current v2 series Mustang III/IV/V models with current firmware have an improved onboard tuner resolution/accuracy specification (than what was stated in the now 3+ years old 2012 reply quoted above; See: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=72219)?

If the onboard tuner resolution/accuracy has been improved what is the current specification?

Aside from FUSE providing a more visually enriched display, does FUSE have any affect on the Tuner's accuracy?

I use the tuners in my v2 Mustang IV and v2 MIII amps most often via their individual 4btn fsw units. These have proven to be extremely reliable, very convenient, and perform as well as the Snark SN-8 Super Tight chromatic clip on tuners that I also use occasionally.

I'm not Fender TSL, but my understanding is that the tuner in the Mustang amps is not made by Fender, but is a generic, and the same as found in amps from many manufacturers. The one in my Mustang even has the same bugs as the one in my Orange amp:
- if I turn the tuner off, and the signal is boosted enough, the LEDs still flicker.
- sometimes, if it's been on for "too long", it won't turn off and requires a power cycle.

Given that it appears to be a third party product, I would deem it unlikely that it has changed.

I'm not a fan of this type of tuner, because it's really hard to read in the dark. If changing between different tunings, it's helpful if it's easy to see what note you're on, and with this tuner in the dark, I end up having to count the LEDs. I would have preferred it if they had placed the LEDs behind bigger letter shaped windows, even if it takes up more space.

As for accuracy, anything finer than a cent or two is really not too useful. Just bracing the neck will change the pitch more than that, and given that a major third is several cents too high in equal temperament intonation (above the 5/4 ratio our brain wants), it's not a huge concern. Tune well, but don't go chasing decimals.

Sorry to hear you're having these problems! Never encountered any of them with either of my Mustangs!

What model and version Mustang are you using that is exhibiting these symptoms? Does your guitar have active pickups? What, if any, pedals are you running in the signal chain before your amp?

I think it's just a DSP function ("measure the frequency and compare it to a set of targets"), not a separate component actually wired into the signal somewhere.

Never noticed that.

They probably expect you to buy a Mustang III (or higher) for that.
