As evidenced by my very dumb questions I am just getting started with Fuse. But I have made a preset that I like. I saved it. But now I am trying to update the "Preset Info" and Fuse will not let me change the "Author". Any idea why?

There are no dumb questions, just misinformed answers. :lol: I'm not sure if you are having the same problem I did a while back, but check this out:

I found it simpler just to edit the *.fuse preset file with a text editor.
Look for the preset file in Documents/Fender/FUSE/Presets

Open the file of interest ("Aequorea.fuse" in this example) in a text editor, and scroll down to the <Info ...> ... </Info> section ...
<FUSE>
<Info name="Aequorea" author="John L Rose" rating="0" genre1="73" genre2="25" genre3="92" tags="" fenderid="0"> description goes here blah-blah-blah.</Info>
<PedalColors>
<Color ID="1">14</Color>
<Color ID="2">1</Color>
<Color ID="3">2</Color>
<Color ID="4">10</Color>
</PedalColors>
</FUSE>

... where "Aequorea" is the name of a preset I developed, as it appears in FUSE. (The file name may be slightly different, just to make it harder to locate it in the directory, I guess.)
Type in any new preset name, author name, or description, and save the file.
I'm not sure if you have to restart FUSE to see the difference, but it works.

John, thank you for the response. I wondered if it could be edited with a text editor. I didn't know if it was a text file or binary.

Thanks again. I would still like to know why I can't get into the greyed out box in Fuse but this is a work around. and, actually, it's not that important.

1 page, 11 posts .... :?: :lol:

Here's the condensed version:

Hi strings10927,

I see in your screen shot that you are attempting to upload a Preset that you did not author. Please be sure that you are uploading a Preset that you have created or fully modified and titled. At that point, it will be in your name. Then the procedure should work as expected. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Confirmed!

1. I opened up the preset

2. I clicked the File menu and selected Save Preset As...

3. I changed the title to 'What I Am (lead) by Strings10927'

4. After I saved, both version of the preset changed to show me as author - this does not make sense to me in a 'Save As' operation, but ok

Image

5. Was able to upload normally :mrgreen:

Strings I went both the "huge" thread and your "Cliff Notes" version. The problem du jour is that when I am in Fuse and click on "Community" "Log In" it tells me that my password is incorrect. If I go there in my browser I can log in no problem and can download presets.

And, yes, I tried logging in with my browser and then going to "Community" it doesn't recognized that I am logged in.

I give up. It ain't that big of deal. I will never up load any presets I'm sure so it doesn't matter whether the author is correct or not.

ah, that's a horse of a different color, I thought you were having trouble changing the 'Author' field for a preset you made. Image What are you using to run Fuse (computer-wise)?

If you haven't already ...

1. Run Windows Update
2. Check to see if Silverlight is enabled

Yes, it's enabled. But would that be the issue if I can log in from my browser but not FUSE? If it was the issue wouldn't it cause a problem both ways?

strings, thanks for your help and time on this. But I am putting it on hold for a bit. I'm going to be away from forums for a month or more starting Aug 20 & this is a very low priority right now. I may or may not revisit this later in the year.

Thanks again.
