Really WD? Apparently you have been on this board for a while, are you not familiar with how upset Fender Mustang Owner's are (I own a I and V) that since the original release we haven't gotten a software update? Are you not familiar with the "we want your feedback" forum that was locked?? Are you not familiar with Fender telling Mustang owners they were not abandoning the line for some five years now and not releasing any news, timeline, software or even courtesy feedback on direction??? Do you know of any software in modern times that has one release with only a couple of minor bug fixes???? Really... that is what disturbs me! Catch up here if you need it, sounds like you do. Thread was started in 2012!http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?t=73425

No sir....I wasn't familiar with any of that, because I don't own a Mustang amp (and don't plan to). I HAVE however, just recently purchased a Super Champ X2...so I've been looking at FUSE threads (and SCx2 threads) to "catch up" on pertinent information.
It's my understanding that the FUSE software is atleast similar for each amp....and I have no problem with the current version of software that I was able to download for the SCx2.

I'll keep reading when I can, and see what issues the Mustang is having without updated software, simply because now you have sparked my interest.

The amps are really nice for the price. It is why I purchased two. And to be fair the original software is decent. The Fender Fuse website with the sharing of presets, most excellent. Yet one of the biggest drawbacks is the clumsy nature of arranging presets. Plus there were a ton of great ideas posted in that thread. They finally locked the thread after one of the board members started daily posting a held hostage message with the number of days since an update. Time and time again Fender would post a nebulous statement that they are committed to supporting the line but would not release any more details. I have never experienced anything like this, hell even my car has gotten more software updates. I begged them to just release the API's if they were not going to continue development, but nothing. Two other people reverse engineered the software and made their own version which improved upon the preset management. Fender could have outsourced coding dirt cheap and charged for updates to actual make a profit. I would have happily paid a nominal update fee if that was the issue. @MusicLaw posted a glimmer of hope but it may also lockout current users. Five years of turning their backs on loyal customers is just wrong. Not updating software for five years is unheard of, especially when you ask for customer feedback to improve said software. Fender, please if you do nothing else - release the API's so others can pick this up and move forward!

that's funny because just last night I was thinking how simple and "plug and play" my amp is.

My perspective may be a little different because I used a MIDI rack system for years. Now THAT was clumsy. Time to rename a preset: [up arrow, up arrow, right arrow, up arrow, up arrow, up arrow, up arrow, up arrow, up arrow, up arrow, up arrow, right arrow, up arrow, up arrow, up arrow]. You obviously don't know the struggle.

I guess having worked with computers since the early DOS days, I'm actually expecting Drag and Drop, a technology that first appeared over two and a half decades ago. Drag and Drop is now available as a web component in HTML 5. If you look on the link I posted to the "tell us what you want" forum, the majority of people mention the arrangement of presets as a want. To rearrange the complete list of presets in FUSE, you literally have to save off each one and then import them back one at a time into the slot you want. It is such a lacking service that people actually take time to write their own - http://md-lab.de/571/

Me too! I'm an IT Systems Administrator working in multiple school districts.

nah, why would you have to do that? All you need to re-arrange presets is one open preset slot. So it would go like this (for example):

Preset 01 = AC/DC
Preset 02 = Funky Clean
Preset 03 = Funky Dirty
Preset 04 = Marshall Lead
Preset 05 = Wah pedal clean
Preset 06 = Open slot (nothing important)

If I wanted to reverse the order of the first 5 presets:

1. Save 'Preset 01' as 'Preset 06'
2. Save 'Preset 05' as 'Preset 01'
3. Save 'Preset 06' as 'Preset 05'
4. Save 'Preset 02' as 'Preset 06'
5. Save 'Preset 04' as 'Preset 02'
6. Save 'Preset 06' as 'Preset 03'

now you have:

Preset 01 = Wah pedal clean
Preset 02 = Marshall Lead
Preset 03 = Funky Dirty
Preset 04 = Funky Clean
Preset 05 = AC/DC
Preset 06 = Open slot (nothing important)

The Android REMUDA App has had easy Drag and Drop Preset reorganization for two years!

REMUDA works with all the Mustang Amp models and the Mustang Floor.

All you need is an Android Tablet or Smartphone, and neither needs cellular system service! They can even be units that are no longer used by friends, family, or you get used on Craigslist, ebay, or a garage sale.

So long as the device runs USB Host Mode, connect an OTG Cable (or adapter) and then connect to the USB cable Fender provided with your Mustang.

Moreover, if you have two Android devices, REMUDA can Wirelessly control your Mustang via Bluetooth!

Strings... you ever play tower of hanoi? That is what you are doing, now say you have 100, and say you want to group this bunch here, that bunch there... that one open slot is a nightmare. That is what we call in our industry... not very user friendly. Would that 'use case' work for you at work?

MusicLaw thanks, I looked at one android app a couple of years back. Not sure if that was the one or not. There are actually about four third party apps attempting to do what should be native in the product. Like one of said developer posted http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?p=1112659#p1112659

I appreciate the focused help on this one item, but respectfully- the point was a bit larger. The OP was larger. I was just pointing out one of the most obviously missed features, that sure enough sparked spin off development. I'm looking at this incredible modeling software... and I either play towers of hanoi or get a third party app, to simply arrange presets - after five years. Come on ...

Well, just earlier today I saw a Post on TheGearPage.net referencing some activity, including a photo of what claimed to be a new forthcoming small Mustang Amp. The post was in the context of Presets being configured with the input of some pro players stopping by. If it was a genuine situation with an authentic new Mustang it won't be long before it get's more widely publicized coverage.

Here's the thread:

Interesting. I saw your other post about the potential forthcoming new Mustang line. The big "IF" in all of this is, does it mean an abandonment of the current line or might it finally mean a software upgrade. I hope for the latter but fear the former. It didn't sound like, from your other post on this thread, there was any conversation about the current line and how/if it would be affected. Did I get the gist of that right?

Interesting, only the Mustang I left on the Fender site http://shop.fender.com/en-US/guitar-amplifiers/contemporary-digital/ So I guess that means a new line is coming and the end of the V2. And I'll just bet, the end of support and no hope of a software upgrade. I hope I'm wrong.

(BTW - I looked at the REMUDA App, so much better than I remember. Thanks for pointing it out!)

Ah missed that! I wonder if this mean Fuse will be updated or replaced entirely.

I'm coming from a time when I had to connect 3 different rack mounted devices and a foot controller (all made by different manufacturers) and get them all to work together via MIDI. Everything had to be done on devices front panel buttons, so it was a lot of [right-arrow] [right-arrow] [right-arrow] [up-arrow] [left-arrow] [left-arrow] [down-arrow] [right-arrow] etc. etc. Talk about tower of hanoi!

In comparison, copying presets using a windows app feels super-easy! But maybe I just see it that way, because MIDI was 10 times more complicated.

Also, I move presets around sure, but not so often that it would become a problem. If I did need to change the order all the time, I would arrange them all in "Configuration A" and then make a backup. Then set them up for "Configuration B" and make another backup.

Once you have all your backups, you can restore whichever configuration you need at a given time which would actually be faster than drag-and-drop once the backups have been made.
