I have been struggling to launch Fuse on my PC for over a week. I've tried everything in the Fender Troubleshooting documents, including temporarily disabling my McAfee firewall and scanning. I also have McAfee's Family Protection and disabled that. No luck.

Then yesterday I deleted McAfee's Family Protection completely from my PC and voila, Fuse launched successfully. I re-installed Family Protection and was back to the same problem. I have tried every possible setting in Family Protection to allow websites and programs, but the program seems determined to block Fuse the way it would an inappropriate site for children.

Has anyone had success using McAfee's Family Protection with Fuse and if so, how?

Thanks in advance!

Dear goodsal,

Thanks for the information it was very insightful. As for your scenario I would suggest e-mailing McAfee and ask them if there's a setting you can use for a trusted internet site or maybe you can manually add it as a trusted internet sites. Link with instructions are below. I hope you find this helpful and please let us know if we can assist you further.

Just wanted to make sure you've already tried this:

Create Your Own Site Lists
Allows you to specify a list of websites you want to allow or deny access to.

Click Web Blocking.
Click Create Your Own Site Lists.
Type the URL for the website you want to ban or allow into the Site Address box.
Select either Allow Site or Ban Site.
To apply this setting for everyone who uses this computer, select Add this site for all users.
When you have finished making your choices, click Add Site.

I don't know, but you may be able to specify a 'wildcard' ... that is if you put this:

*.fender.com

It translates to [anything].fender.com. So fuse.fender.com, help.fender.com, support.fender.com, etc. etc would be allowed. But I don't know if the McAfee filter can do a wildcard. I know you can enter a wildcard in Internet Explorer's Trusted Sites.

Make sure you don't have Mcafee Family Protection set to block sites that have potentially harmful programs. There are links on the fuse.fender.com front page directly to executables, and if Mcafee doesn't know what they are, it might block it.

Also, keyword blocking might block it due to the band track names. Words like "naked", "spank", "impalement" and "dope" can trigger filters on the strictest settings.

I'm not a big fan of McAfee, and it seems like the software is so protective in this case that it prevents you from working. Maybe contact McAfee directly for instructions on how to exclude Fuse.
