Hey, hello all,

Soo, I have been trying to come with a clean setting (ala RHCP) but everytime I try I get a kind of distorted tone. I have tried all the 65' amps and cant come with a good tone. What amp would you guys suggest so start creating a good clean sound?

Also, what is a good configuration for the compressor?, every time I try it, it seems to add distortion.

I own a Mustan II V.2.

Thanks in advance!

Hello from the Fender TSL,

If you are looking for a good clean tone with your Mustang II v2 amp, I would suggest that you try the Studio Preamp in the fender FUSE application. It is the least modulated amp in the FUSE software. With any of the amps always make sure the gain is turned down low for the least amount of distortion.
The compressor can sound distorted because it does boost the signal so you need to make sure you dial it in correctly. It is a lot easier to dial in the settings in the software than on the amp. The Simple Comp is the easiest to use so I would suggest starting there. Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

Here is a quick run through on how a compressor works and a setting I got a clean funky sound I liked. It is really going to be up to you to "dial in" the sound you like.
The threshold control tells the compressor the level that the signal must be at in order to start working.
The ratio knob sets the amount of compression of the input signal once the threshold has been exceeded.
The attack control lets the compressor know how long to wait before starting to do its job.
The release control tells the compressor how long to take to get back to normal, when it is no longer modifying the input signal.
I had the Compressor at:
Level - 50%
Thresh - 50%
Ratio - 206
Attack - 0%
Release - 50%
I got a nice punchy clean sound using the Studio Preamp: gain at 1, volume at 10, treble, mid, and bass all at 5.
It's going to be up to your ear though so you might need to adjust those setting.

For more tonal color, use the technique above with the larger Fender tweed amps. Experiment with different speaker combinations. Run the volume full tilt and then back the gain down to adjust your final volume. Additionally use the Simple Compressor on max or the Compressor as outlined in the previous post.
