>>I have a Mustang in the basement at the vain hope that I am wrong and that there will be software for it that makes it usable. But I am not holding my breath, and I won't sell it to anyone given that the software is unusable...

If your Mustang is unusable to you, why are you still hanging around here? Why not stick to forums where you can discuss your vastly better replacement equipment? I don't get this. On camera forums, it gets someone labeled a "troll." Regarding selling your hunk of junk Mustang amp, maybe you should sell it really cheap so you save someone from paying full price for a new one? Not a fanboy, but enjoying my Mustang III v2 worts and all.

I can't understand why some people find the software "unusable" and yet, so many users are able to use it. Maybe it's the driver, not the car.

Maybe you should try a modern high-dpi system running 64-bit Windows. My 2.5 year old 1920x1080 laptop with 165 dpi is not particularly high-end today. My 4k desktop display is arguably high end. FUSE doesn't work on either.

Try setting your screen to 150 DPI or higher, and see what happens in FUSE. The window doesn't scale but the window contents do, meaning most of it disappears outside the window. You can't see or use the pedals. Turning off display scaling for FUSE won't work either, because it is rendered with Silverlight. It's quite clearly unusable for modern high-DPI systems. Which you don't have, which is why it works for you.

USB 3.0 under Windows 7 x64 is another thing that doesn't work. You can mess with ASIO drivers all you want, but unless you have an old PC with at least one USB 2.0 port, it won't stream.

Out of curiousity, why not set your screen ppi lower when running Fuse?
I have a laptop with a 1920x1080 monitor and a separate, larger 1920x1080 monitor running as an extended desktop so as to make music mastering malleable. I turn down the ppi display to 96 and everything is fine.
cheers,
Alex

Okaaaaay.... do you see why 'unusable' doesn't fit here?

Hey quick question, did you ever try running FUSE with your high dpi settings, but with FUSE in Full Screen Mode (F11)?

for the analogy to fit, it would have to be a car that I drove successfully and without a single issue for 3 years, but you can't get it out of the driveway. :P Sorry but I just can't label something I used for that long without a problem as 'unusable'.

Yeah I don’t get it either. Its pictures of pedals and amps with some pulldown menus and you click them with your mouse. It’s about as easy to use as Solitaire or Minesweeper. I hate having to use it but that’s my own fault for buying a MII and not a MIII.

sorry guys, defending this crap only shows you don´t know any better.

just an example which i stated sometime before:

I´ve got 24 presets on my pp-mini amp. Fuse has no drag and drop support for rearranging them (not even rotational selection).
Question to the white knights:
So how many clicks does it take to change the 24 presets?

According to Gauss empirical formula, the selection of the preset slots alone requires:
n/2 * (n+1)
where n = 24,
results in 300 clicks
At least 300 clicks instead of just 24 drag motions are required on the passport mini to exchange all 24 presets.
And you guys call this a usable software? Image
Maybe it would have been in the 90s, but this is far behind modern UI standards, fact, like it or not.
Besides from poor design there are several bugs not beeing fixed (loss of presets metadata during import, gui not reflecting changes, etc. pp. )
you white knights defending FuseTM obviously have no clue bout software development, i don´t care.
Bad thing is fender doesn´t either.

Wow, you're spoiled if that's a problem for you. Back in my day, I had a midi preamp, a midi effects unit, and a separate power amp. First you had to get all the midi devices talking to each other. Then you had to get them switching presets together. Then you had to sit there and press ::::clicky clicky:::: on the little buttons on each device to program them. 300 clicks? Maybe more like 3000 if you were lucky.

Just curious, what is the situation that causes you to need to rearrange all 24 presets at the same time? World tour coming up? :|

I’d hardly call Fuse “Unusable” because you can’t rearrange the presets within the software. If I get a hankering to re organize my amp, I just do a backup, navigate to the folder and alter the number of the preset file in the backup folder. Then restore the backup. It takes minutes. And as Strings mentioned, this is WAY easier than using Midi. On my GT6 I had to: Hook up a USB to Midi converter, load up the independent software developer’s floor board editor, get the two to talk to each other over midi (not always easy), do my editing and rearranging, then do a Sysex dump. What a pain in this White Knight’s $@!. But… I didn’t consider either “Unusable”. Just something I’d have to deal with if I wanted a box at my feet that had all these amp models and FX.

I guess not having a problem with the operation and functionality of fuse makes me a “Fanboy” or a “white knight”.

I’d love it if Avid Media Composer could highlight bins with offline media. Would save me a ton of time in making sure projects are properly backed up… but that doesn’t make the application “unusable” see how that works? And you have to PAY for Avid Media Composer.

Call me fanboy but i love fuse hehe. Yes managing presets in library is a little(maybe not so little :P) bit pain, and there are no hotkeys for effects but still i like it :)

Who says i do it all at the same time? Doesn´t make it less of a pain, was just an example anyway.
Although you might not be able to tell the difference between good and bad software design, even you may have noticed drag & drop preset management is one of the most requested features on the boards... search function might be enlightening.

So the absence of 'drag and drop' to rearrange presets renders the software "unusable" as you had stated? Even though I've been using the software continuously for over 3 years and it got the job done every single time? OK, sounds good. You've convinced me. It's unusable.

Every single piece of software I have used in the last 30 years sucked in one way or the other. Does that make them all unusable? No. Could they all have been improved? Of course.
