Just wanted to throw this tidbit into the fire and hope that it helps somebody.........(Help from a Newbie?) LOL

I bought my Mustang 2 V2 a couple of days ago and eagerly opened the box and hooked everything up only to hear a very annoying buzz/digital noise coming out of the amp. There was no setting by which it would go away, and changing the audio cables had no effect. Dam!

The noise was coming from my laptop computer! I noticed that if I disconnected my DC power supply from the Mains to the laptop the noise was gone. This was no solution because then the laptop runs the battery down pretty fast.

Naturally the laptop has to be hooked to the amp for Fuse to work, so what to do?

This is a classic "ground loop" situation. Even if the Amp and the laptop are both running off the same power cord, the noise will not stop.

Solution - (and there could be others) - Unplug the Amp with its' 3 prong plug and plug that into a 3 to 2 prong adapter which can be found at any hardware store for about $1.50 or so. This is easy to do and the amp is perfectly happy to not be grounded to the mains. I have an old Peavey practice amp with a stock cord on it and it is only 2 prong, so not having the amp grounded does not seem to be much of an issue, but use this advice at your own risk!.

I suppose you could do the same to the laptop and get the same result, but I did not try that. My noise was almost completely gone already so I stopped right there.

There is still a little noise from the USB if I turn the Gain knob up pretty far, but I am setting it at 6 and still it is quiet enough that there is no musical noise issue.

I may try the same solution on the laptop as well. I do hate noise of any sort.

Buy an USB cable with ferrite beads, which blocks this kind of noise.
IMHO, the amp should have come with this type of cable already - that's not something you want to save a few pennies on, especially if you know the amp is susceptible to EM noise, which the Mustang most certainly is.

That sounds like a good idea! But where did you purchase such an item?

Mostly camera or computer supply retailers, but Amazon.com has just about everything.
