I got me a Fender Mustang 2. Brilliant! But not being much a techy person, I am struggling to get my head round Fender Fuse. Can't work out how to load a band track of my choosing or how to have the band track played through the amp rather than the computer speakers... Please help!

To be honest, I never use the band tracks within Fuse. I usually just look up backing tracks on YouTube and play along, there are so many posted. I did use some of the built-in band tracks to make a few demos, but I imported the tracks into another program (Audacity) and looped them.

But anyway... if you want to play them in FUSE ....

1. Open Fender® FUSE™.

2. You should see the Preset Editor window which will show a picture of the selected amp.

Note: If you see 'MEDIA LIBRARY' at the top of the window and no picture of an amp, click the PRESET EDITOR button in the upper right side to go to the Preset Editor.

3. At the top-left of the Preset Editor window, you can see the Band Track for the selected preset. If no track is selected, it will say "Band: None". On the right side, you will see 2 buttons: START and BAND. Click BAND.

4. To select a Band Track for the preset, click to select MP3/Wave.

5. Click the drop-down arrow that appears on the right side of the Band Settings dialog box and select a Band Track. A lot of the names indicate what the track is. For example, the Backing Track PC - Eric_Johnson_SRV.wav is the song SRV by Eric Johnson.

6. If you'd like to have the track 'loop' (plays over and over until you stop it), click the check box next to Repeat.

7. Click OK.

8. Once you have your band track selected for the preset, click START to start the track. When you're done, click STOP to stop the track.

This is something I've never done, but it should work like this....

1. First, check to see if your computer has an audio out from its soundcard. It may or may not be labeled 'Line Out'. It might look similar to this (labeled Sound Out):

Image

The 'Line Out' or 'Headphone Out' is usually (but not always) green. If you have it, move on to step 2.

2. Run a wire from the computer's 'Line Out' to the Mustang II's AUX in. The cable you need is 1/8" to 1/8" Stereo audio cable. It looks like this:

This wire is available at a lot of places that sell audio or computer equipment.

3. Adjust the volume of the track on the amp using the MASTER knob on the physical amp. If your computer speakers aren't automatically muted when the Line Out is connected, turn them off.

4. Balance the guitar volume against the preset by adjusting the VOLUME knob.

Note: All instructions above were written by a Mustang III v1 owner. I don't have the other amp models, so the instructions may differ. If anyone can clarify or correct any of the above, please do!

Nitpick:
Do not be led astray by this picture.

The six holes on the left half are jacks.
The pokey bit on the right is a 1/8" plug.

Also, the "All connections to your onboard sound card will require this size" is patently false. It's the case for most cheap PCs, but certainly not the case for DAWs, most of which have RCA phono IO with a separate jack for each channel, and some use external interfaces with TS and XLR connectors.
