I have a Mustang I v1 and it works just fine for me. I've been learning for about a year interested mostly in blues and a little Beatles (I'm almost 60). My focus to this point has been learning enough to where I can play with backing tracks I mostly get off youtube. To that end, I'm doing pretty well.

Having dinner with a friend who has played all his life and is quite good, he asked me if I had been experimenting with pedals. The answer was no. So I immediately started looking into buying effect pedals especially the multi ones which lead me to the Mustang Floor.

Then it hit me, I have all the effects already available to me via fuse. Waaaay more than a fledgling ham fisted wanker like myself could use. So I thought I'll just get a switch and be done with it. Then I learned the MI only supports a single switch (bummer).

I found here that I may be able to connect a Mustang Floor to the MI by using the AUX vs. Pedal outlet. That would be OK, But what (I think) I'd really like to have is something with drum tracks (although I think I've seen them on FUSE) a looper and to be able to play backing tracks and record myself to monitor my progress (or lack there off). Oh, and I have no intention of gigging anytime soon if ever,

So the two questions I have; what would you suggest I should be looking at buying pedal/accessory wise and would it be worthwhile upgrading to a M III?

Thanks in advance.

Dear hamfisted,

Thanks for your inquiry. I'm not able recommend any equipment outside of what Fender® manufactures, but as for your second question I would suggest going to your local music store and audition the Fender® MUSTANG III to hear the differences from your current Amp. This process should help you to determine if you want to make the upgrade investment. I hope this helps and please feel free to let us know if we can assist you further.

Regards,

Since your Mustang I provides MANY built-in effects you should experiment with all of those before even considering buying any additional pedals. I think you will find that pretty much everything you need is built right into your amp and you won't need ANY external pedals. That's the beauty of the Mustang product line...loads of tone options without having to buy lots of additional equipment (Fender: Feel free to send me a check for promoting the Mustang product line :-) ).

Well you kind of answered your own question ...except for ...( well intentioned rant follows )

you have access to all kinds of amp models pedals rack effects and storage options ... you probably do not need pedals unless it is a really far out of the normal type...

the Model 3 is way superior because of the lcd read-out-screen on it ... NOT because it has 100 preset slots ... that is way beyond ridiculous ... what is cool though is you can assign presets to a channel # and have a read-out right on the amp ... showing amp type , amp settings , pedals, rack stuff even cabinet types etc ...

I initially bought the model # 2 thinking a relatively small amp with the features I needed @ 40 watts and a 12" speaker was going to be "cool" ... hmmm ... 3 so-called banks of DIFFERENT colored LED'S sounded good , ... till I unboxed it an plugged it in ... awe crap ... Amber and "green" LED's ... what were they thinking ...? a lot of guys are color blind , like me ... I can tell the red ones but amber and green are so close even several family members that are NOT color-blind can't tell the difference between them  ... then the factory pre-sets are actually printed on the tolex covering ... wt-crap ... something you are going to change as soon as you hook-up Fuse ... do you really think I need 3 duplicate pre-sets of 8 amps ... really ...???

So I bought the model 3 ... way better and ... of course as guys we all know that BIGGER is better ! 100 watts SS = about 40 > 50 watts tube power ...

then I went the other way and got the "Mini" ... Wow ... ( same dumb led scheme ) , I LOVE it FWIW :
If the next move is to make a Mustang 1 w/ a 10" speaker at like 20 watts that can use batteries = portable ... I would be all over that one ...

On the Mini, The Design guys forgot to make the power supply able to work with rechargeable batteries though ... 6 x 1.2 VDC = 7.2 VDC not the same as 6 x 1.6 volts / Alkaline = 9.6 VDC , or the power supply that comes with it at 12VDC... I am still scratching my balding head over THAT ONE ... :(

I'd explore Fuse before buying milk-crates full of Boutique pedals only to find you already have access to a semi-brilliantly layed out amp system

Space'
