My computer isn't exactly the fastest, it's an older machine.
Amplitube works but extremely slowly, the fuse software itself works fairly decent.

But since you can't record from Fuse, is there any software possibly less extensive than amplitube I could use with the mustangs usb to record?

Thanks!

Hi it0ken,

If you are on an older PC, you may be interested in giving 'Audacity' a try. It is a free, open source stereo recording application that does not require the use of an ASIO driver. I have included a link below. Please have a look at this. And let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

I just bought a Mustang I V2 two days ago, and I didn't even know that you could record via the USB connection until I read some forum posts. A serendipitous discovery. :D

Anyway, I have a Mac Mini "2007" model, running MacOS 10.68 Snow Leopard, which is the latest version that model will run, I think. I also maxed out the RAM to 3 GB.

I launched Audacity 1.36 beta, and sure enough, it saw the Mustang in the list of inputs. That's in Audacity's Preferences... / Audio I/O / Recording - Device: and then there's a drop-down list that includes "Core Audio: Mustang Amplifier" as a choice.

I tried recording a bit, and there was no problem. The only thing is that some presets result in a track that records at a fairly low level, with peaks on the order of -10 to -20 dBfs. You can work around that by cranking up the amp's Volume knob. (Select "Start Monitoring" on the Input Level meter to try it out before actually recording.) It's better to record a high level and reduce it later with Audacity's envelope tools, than to boost it later. Don't crank it so high during recording as to clip it though. That's more difficult to repair.

Hi John L Rose,

It sounds like you are up and running with your amp, Fender® FUSE™ and your Mac. For Mac users such as yourself, you may also want to try GarageBand. It can be fun and very creative as well. In regard to the low recording level, you can use the 'Advanced Amp' panel in Fender FUSE to access a control called 'USB Gain'. This is an output boost for the USB output on the amp. It is ideal for boosting a quiet output signal by as much as 24db (not needed in most cases). But when used appropriately, it can correct a typically clean, lower output tone and get you the record level you want. Please check this out and let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan
