I recently purchased a Mustang III and downloaded the latest Fuse program. It installed with no issues and when I plugged in the USB cable for the first time, the USB drivers seemed to install with no issues (even checked the Device Manager and everything seems to be in place when connected). However, I still get the "No Amp Connected" in the bottom left. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Fuse program and still nothing.

Any ideas?

I run Windows 7 64-bit.

Oh, and I've went through all the steps in the .pdf troubleshooter as well (ie device manager, creating another admin account, etc).

I do have the latest Windows 7 upgrades. And as for the firmware, can't see how it's going to update when the amp is not connecting.

You should try , cost nothing . What else is your problem if not software ?

How can I upgrade the firmware when it's not even an option, even when it's plugged in, it doesn't highlight as an option under "Utilities".

Is this a USB 3 port, i.e. with a blue plastic plate in the middle instead of black on the PC side?

If it is, try to either:
- Download the latest 64-bit USB 3 drivers from the USB controller manufacturer (likely Intel or Renesas). This might not solve the problem, but is worth a try.
- Use a USB 2 port, if your PC has one. Note that this must be a true USB 2 port on a USB 2 controller (EHCI), and not a USB 2 hub on a USB 3 controller (xHCI).
- Downgrade to Windows 8.1. Not recommended.

Explanation:
With 64-bit Windows 7, USB 3.0 drivers are 3rd party and are prohibited from running in kernel mode, or use functionality that requires full system privileges. Thus certain undocumented/unsupported features of USB 2 (like guaranteed rate IO or exclusive access) can not be provided by USB 3.0 on these systems.
With 32-bit Windows 7, or any version of Windows 8, USB 3.0 runs as part of the OS, and can do these things, at the expense of opening up for security risks.

In any case, it's the hardware you plug into the ports that's faulty if it depends on undocumented USB 2.0/2.1 functionality. Fender is in bad company here - companies like MOTU, Propellerhead, Avid and others all appear to sell products that won't work with USB 3.0 on 64-bit Windows 7, because of relying on unsupported USB 2 functionality that cannot easily be emulated by user space USB 3.0/3.1 drivers.
Anything bearing a USB-IF certification mark should work. Guess whether the Mustang bears one...

It's USB 2. The laptop I'm using is 5 years old.

I just emailed TSL@fender.com with everything they require so I really hope they can help me. I really don't know why this is not working and VERY frustrating.

Update:

Still haven't been able to get it connected. Fortunately, I had an old Toshiba laptop (Windows XP). Works like a charm.

Weird that it's not working on my newer computer.

However, Fender support have been very good in trying to help me figure this out. More to follow.

Nothing is missing. Fender even confirmed that after sending them some screenshots. As far as the device manager is concerned, everything is there (even the sound it makes when the usb is connected). It just doesn't show up connected on Fuse.
