Is there a way to override the presets in the amp (Mustang I v2) when creating a new preset in Fuse?

Thanks...

Hi Alvin Fender,

If I am understanding your question correctly, I think you are asking if you can create a new Preset for your Fender® Mustang™ amp using Fender FUSE™, and whether or not you can overwrite or "clear" an existing Preset on the amp itself.

So, you can definitely create a new Preset inside Fender FUSE by clicking on the "New" button in the upper left-hand area of the user interface in Fender FUSE. You will, of course want to have the amp connected to your computer at this time. Once you have created your new Preset, you can save it in Fender FUSE by clicking on the "Save" button in Fender FUSE.

At this point, you can go to the Media Library and click on the Computer tab there (center row of tabs). Select the Preset that you want to save or "overwrite" to your amp and right click (control-click for Mac) on the Preset title. Then select "Save Preset to amp" in the list that appears. You can change the title and/or change the save-to location, then click OK to complete the save.

In regard to actually "clearing" a Preset, this is not possible as the amp will always have some Preset data loaded in it, even if it is just an amp model. I hope this is helpful. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan

TSL,
I'm sorry, I didn't make myself very clear.
What I'm wondering is, is there away to bypass the presets in the amp when going directly into Fuse. Or how to you checkout the sound of the preset your creating before downloading? I hope that makes sense.

Thanks...

It's still not to clear what you mean by "bypass the presets in the amp".

Let's clear one thing up, the presets on the web and the ones you download and have on your computer are nothing more than a set of instructions that the amp can read. The instruction are in "plain text" format and you can actually open them in a plain text editor such as NOTEPAD.EXE (on Windows machines). The instructions are in XML - a "markup language" similar to HTML used to display the content of web pages.

Since the presets are nothing more than a set of instructions that must be sent to the amp, there is no way to preview them before you download them (your computer connects to the internet - the amp does not).

You can download presets and then load them up in FUSE which in turn will send the instructions to the amp. The amp is simply changing it's settings to the current instruction set it has been sent by either FUSE or by the user telling it to read and load into that current memory a preset stored on the amp.

The FUSE software let's you modify the current instruction set in real time just as you can do by twiddling the knobs on the amp. But that modified set of instructions occupies no preset slot - this is why the SAVE buttons (on the amp and in FUSE) light up. The current instruction set is only held temporarily until another set of instructions gets loaded.

I hope that didn't confuse you more.

p90sdude,
That did not confuse me, in fact I understand how that works. What is not coming through is how to "edit" the preset, being created, as I create it. In other words what process does everyone use to hear the preset?

I am now thinking you have to create a preset, without hearing what it sounds like, download it and the edit it with Fuse while you are plugged into the amp?

I don't why I can't seem to figure this out.

Hi Alvin Fender,

In regard to editing the Preset while you are creating it, you can start the editing process with one of the Factory Presets, a "New" Preset using Fender® FUSE™, or a Preset that was downloaded from the Fender FUSE Online Community and temporarily load it to a Preset slot on your amp. From this point, you should be able to hear the Preset "live" as you continue the editing process. Once you are happy with it, then you can save the Preset using either Fender FUSE or the amp itself.

I hope this is helpful. Also, if you have not had a chance to have a look at the user guides for Fender FUSE and/or your amp, please see the included links below. Let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan
