Hey Everyone. I have had My Fender Mustang amp for a few years Now. It is the original Mustang Amp the 150 watt Fender Mustang 4. I never really had much interest in the fuse software for a few reasons. 1.) I thought I can do pretty much everything I need to from the amp. I am still not sure if there are things I can get with fuse.
2.) I am not the best computer person. But for some reason I want to give it a go.
Can anyone tell me the first steps I need to do to try out the fuse software? I saw some Vids. But Not sure of the steps & don't want to screw it up. I saw a thread & downloaded
FenderFUSE_FULL_2.7.1 to my desktop? I hope that is correct? Not sure If that is for V2 or ALL. Can anyone tell me the steps for setting this up please. Do I now install that first? Or is there a firmware update I have to do? If there is a firmware update. How do I need to do this? Also do I turn on the amp & have it plugged in after the install? Sorry, I know It sounds pretty pathetic. LoL But I am not that good with this. Thanks for any help in advance. Rock On!!!

Well let me see if I can help a little...

Just download FUSE to your computer from the Fender site, plug your amp into the computer (using USB cord supplied with the amp) and open FUSE (the amp needs to be on...). You will see the graphic representation of the preset your Amp is on. Yep you want the desktop icon for convenience. Version 2.7.1 works with all Mustangs. I use it with both a Mustang I (v.1) and a Mustang III (v.2) and it syncs to which ever is connected via the USB port.

I think you will find it very useful. When I am searching for a new sound I actually use both FUSE and the on-board adjustments back and forth. Sometimes its easier to adjust things with the Data Wheel other situations FUSE is easier. At any rate FUSE allows you to see all the contents of a preset at the same time so you have a better idea of what is going on. Also there are a few things that can only be edited in FUSE. I don't think you can screw much up. After a year I am still discovering things about FUSE/Mustang I learn from this forum.

Thanks sltmike for taking the time to explain the process. Very much appreciated!
1 last question. Do I need to do any kind of firmware update? If so when would that have to be done? Or is that all included in Version 2.7.1? Thanks Again.

Your Fender Mustang amp's firmware can be updated by the user with the Fender FUSE software and your amp connected. To do this, please follow the steps below.

Go to the Main Menu (top left hand side in the Fender FUSE user interface), and select Utilities and Update firmware.
Turn off the power on your Fender Mustang amp. While holding the Save button (the Data Wheel on III, IV, & V), turn the power back on.
A dialog window will open. Here you will choose either the bundled firmware update file or you can browse for the firmware file you would like to update to. (The current Mustang firmware version can be downloaded below)
Once you have selected the correct firmware file, select it, and Fender FUSE will automatically begin the firmware update process.
Once the firmware update is complete, turn your Fender Mustang amp off and back on. At this point, the update process is complete.

Thanks for the help strings10927. The only part I am a little confused on is the Data wheel. I have the Mustang 4. It has a save Button & Data wheel. So power off while I hold the save Button? Thanks again.

anytime!

for your amp it should be ...

1. Turn off the power on your Fender Mustang amp.

2. While pressing the Data Wheel, turn the power back on.
