WDM list shows In as active, but no Out even listed. I got it to produce sound/output after a time, but gone again.
Audio device settings window, 'Not connected 1' in the Output range first and last fields.
It was the wee hours of the a.m. that I got the fields to populate with Mustang option, can't get it back. D'oh!

Reaper, btw.

Good luck. I never could get the ASIO to work right along with Ableton. I was able to record but then had to go in and change a bunch of settings to hear the replay. I could never hear the what was recording live, and Ableton its very complicated IMO. I finally gave up and now use Audacity freeware. Its easy and works flawlessly.

Pretty strange to get Out per ASIO Settings WDM list, then never get it again. Even after reinstall! What's that, half a driver? D'oh!

I got Audacity producing output quickly, despite Fender driver not providing any output in Preferences.

Now I have to figure out latency issue whilst both monitoring recorded track and laying a new one down.

Thanks for the heads up.

sltmike and socalscott,
YES..... Thanks for the Heads Up!!!!!!!
Audacity is what I expected from Ableton, and a whole lot more. No "issues" with drivers, or any of the multitude of other "issues" I encountered with Ableton......And it's FREE hehehe As with most freeware, there is a learning curve but this one seems rather easy to get around...so far. >:o):
Once again, Thanks for the Heads Up......Helped LOTS.
Much Love n Peace,
Da Pup

Yes, Audacity is a great Free software to record. If you ever want to go up a Step. There are some good fairly Cheap options like Mixcraft Or Reaper. But in the end. We can all afford Free. :D

Hi All,

Adrenaline, I wanted to check in and see if you were able to get the ASIO driver set up for Live on your PC? If so, great. If not, please have a read through the linked Fender® Support article below. And if that does not offer the assistance you need, please feel free to contact us directly.

At the end of the day, ASIO basically wants to see one input device and one output device only. The process of narrowing these down can be a bit challenging. And if the driver you are wanting to use happens to be in use by another application or widget, it can be even more challenging. But it is usually something that can be resolved. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan

The Fender ASIO driver is very sensitive to input IRQ overlaps. I have found that to get Ableton 8 Lite to reliably work with the Fender ASIO driver I have to remove all the USB inputs to my computer except for the keyboard and mouse and also unplug any audio input/output devices. Boot your computer in this state and then plug in only what is needed to record and hear your music. Also deactivate any unneeded audio input/output channels.

This works for Ableton 8 Lite but not for Ableton 9 Suite. I find that opening the Fender ASIO driver instantly crashes Ableton 9. The only driver I have found that works with a Mustang amp and Ableton 9 is the ASIO4ALL driver. It works if you follow the above bare boot procedure.

Good Luck

Hi dennismullins,

I'm sorry to hear that you have experienced the issues you are describing above. It may be worth while for you to contact Ableton support and discuss the issues you are seeing with them. On a PC with a well running OS and a moderate amount of optimizing, Live should run with our Fender® Universal ASIO driver without any significant issues.

With that said, Windows is a complex collection of "branded" OSs that are running on a great variety of hardware with a great variety of drivers to power that hardware. When you add on additional third party drivers, things should go well, but it will add some degree of complexity. At any rate, please let us know if we can do anything to assist from our end.

Best Regards,

Alan

Hi Alan

In your experience does the Fender ASIO driver behave well with Ableton 9 Suite. In my case as soon as I click on the fender driver in preferences the program crashes. I am using Win7 .

Hi dennismullins,

We have not seen this behavior here as a specific issue. We do see some issues arise with Live in regard to a variety of possible Windows-related behaviors/issues from time to time. Did you upgrade from Live 8 to Live 9? And when you say Live 9 Suite, are you specifically referring to the Suite product? If so, you will definitely want to follow up with the folks at Ableton, as we are only able to provide installation, authorization and basic set-up support for the Live versions of Live that we provide.

Ableton should be able to look at log files or whatever information they may request and see if there may be other issues occurring with your Ableton product. And let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan

Hi, I experience the same problem with Live 8, Windows 7: Hardware Setup window does not work at all. When I try to click the ASIO driver icon in system tray, Live crashes from time to time. I tried to close all other apps, reinstall the driver, disable MS Wavetable Synth in MIDI Sync section of Preferences window bu nothing helps...

Best Regards,

Hi LuuGit,

We are sorry to hear that you are having some troubles getting the ASIO driver set up in Live. You may want to check a couple of additional driver options to see if Live seems to be crashing only with the Fender® Universal ASIO driver, or if it also crashes with (for example) "ASIO For All", or other driver types as well. And please feel free to contact us directly with your results. When contacting us, please include details and if applicable, screen captures or text from any resulting error messages. Then we can go from there. Thanks.

Best Regards,

Alan
