Hi can you please help me

Hope this is the correct place to post this

I have recent purchased a fender mustang1 V2 amp and have set up my fender fuse account and can connect this to my laptop

I have also downloaded and installed the Ableton Live Lite 9 programme that came with my amp

However when I try to set Live Lite up to record I am having problems

under the preferences on Live Lite I have set the driver type to ASIO but then the drop down box for audio input devices says there is nothing available

I have got my amp switched on the usb cable from my amp is connected to my laptop and fender fuse is connected but it doesnt seem to be finding the mustang

can you please advise what else I need to do or do I need to buy a separate interface

I though the mustang amp came with an internal interface

on the drive type pull down meni on live lite I only have the option from my laptop speakers and ASIO

Thanks

I believe Fender has their own ASIO driver "Fender ASIO" or something perhaps you need that, i'm not sure if it will help tho i'm waiting for my Mustang to come in so.........

Edit: here's the link http://www.fender.com/en-NL/support/articles/fender-universal-asio-driver/

Just to make sure, you have the ASIO driver installed and you can see it Ableton under the preferences? (When I start Ableton, Fender ASIO appears on my laptop's systray with buffer setting.) When you configure the ASIO under ABleton's preferences does the Mustang appear as an audio device?

Here is the thing, my Mustang appeared Win7's device manager, the amp talked to the PC nicely via FUSE, but it did not appear as an audio device under ASIO in Ableton. Here is how I got it to show up:

1. Close Ableton
2. Close FUSE
3. Close any other Fender I/O software such as AmpliTude, etc.
4. Leave the Mustang turned on and hooked to the PC via the USB
5. Reinstall ASIO (In my case it prompted me to REPAIR the original installation during this reinstall!)
6. Reboot the computer
7. Turn on the Mustang and make certain it is connected via USB
8. Start Fuse and confirm it is communicating with the Mustang
9. Start Ableton and configure ASIO under preferences, you will (should) see the Mustang as an audio device. Make certain it is enabled
10. Try running the Live Lesson on recording audio; you should be set.

You may need to play with ASIO's buffers or USB gain (In Fuse under Advanced Amp tab) to deal with sound quality and recorded volume.

Good luck!

Hi managed to install the driver and it has recognised in Lite
but when I start to record as soon as I press the record arm button on Lite

my laptop crashes and all I here is a white type noise everything freezes and I need to reboot my laptop

I have tried it without having my amp connected by the usb and the same thing happens - it is always as soon as I click the record arm
is there anything else you can suggest

thanks

I am also running Ableton on a Win 7 laptop: a Lenovo.

Did you install the 32 or 64 bit version? Regardless of which one, I suggest you uninstall Ableton, run Window Update and make certain you are current on the OS (avoid install IE 11 as long as possible; it does not play nice with others). I also suggest right clicking on your sound card in the device manager and check for updated drivers just in case Windows Update does not pick up on this. With all updates installed, reboot and install the 32 bit version of Ableton.

Hopefully that will get you going.

managed to get that sorted by reinstalling Live

but now got some new problems

does anyone know how i can view what i'm recording on the screen - i dont see any of the wave lines etc

also the only way i can here what ive recorded is to export the file and then play it through windows media player - but there is a lot of background hiss when i do that

i don't seem to be having much success with this

Congrats! You have the hardest part behind you. Now that you are "in" your best bet is to work your way through the lessons that appear in the right window of Ableton. Additionally, more tutorials will be emailed to you through the Ableton newsletter once you have registered.

It is so detailed driven, working through the lessons is the one way, I know of<,to master this software.

Hi Guys,

Firstly, thanks to Archtop Bill for his assistance here. And dezag.c, it sounds like you have things up and running at this point. We would also suggest that you take a bit of time to look into the "nuts and bolts" of Ableton Live to become more comfortable with the software.
It is very nice software. But there is a learning curve, especially if you are new to recording on the computer.

Please let us know if there is anything we can assist with along the way.

Best Regards,
