Hi prse5000,

It looks like we have just a support message to you regarding this issue. The recommendation was is to uninstall/re-install the Mono Framework on your Mac. Please let us know if this process corrects the issue you are seeing. Then we can go from there.

Best Regards,

Hi Guys,

We have tested and are continuing to test Fender® FUSE™ with Mavericks. So far, we are not seeing any issues. Please let us know if anyone encounters anything unusual. And we will be happy to troubleshoot on our end.

Best Regards,

Hi Fender TSL, I'm having issues running FUSE on Mavericks. After installing FUSE, Mono and X, FUSE gives me the following message when I try to run:

"The operation couldn't be completed.
OSStatus Error -43"

and Console gives me the following message:

1/3/14 4:38:03.300 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[161]: (FenderFUSE.54944[1030]) Exited with code: 1

I tried to run fuse from the terminal and it prints the following message:

LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/Fender FUSE.app/Contents/Resources/FenderFUSE.app.

Investigating it further, I get the following message trying to run FUSE with the command $ /Applications/Fender\ FUSE.app/Contents/Resources/FenderFUSE.app/Contents/MacOS/FenderFUSE

rm: exiting: No such file or directory

Unhandled Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: An exception was thrown by the type initializer for Fender.Fuse.Program ---> System.ArgumentException: Directory does not exists
Parameter name: value
at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.set_Path (System.String value) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0
...

I think that the problem should be related with the fact that I formatted my partition with Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive) file system while the default is not case sensitive. FUSE is probably trying to opening a file/directory with the same name but different case. Ex.: abc.txt and Abc.txt

I had the same problem with Fuse crashing within seconds.

Although I haven't tested it thoroughly, downgrading Mono from the latest version 3.2.4 to 2.10.11 seems to have fixed the problem (using the latest Silverlight version, 5.1.20913.0).

aziesemer: I've got the exact same problem. I've tried everything. Also had the idea with the case sensitive issue. So I tried installing it on a USB stick which is formatted with a case insensitive MacFS. Didn't work either. I've even sent a dtruss output to the support. Didn't help.

Did you get yours to work?

Hi Ashaman,

It appears that you are running Mavericks on your main start up drive as case sensitive HFS format. Is that correct? If so, is there a particular reason that you have formatted this way? Also, with regard to the USB drive, it sounds like you are booting from that as an alternate start up, then attempting to install Fender® FUSE™. Is that correct? If so, we would suggest that you format non-case sensitive HFS+ on a partition on your internal/boot drive if possible. Then, try installing/running Fender FUSE.

Additionally, I have reviewed our email thread with you. And I don't see where you had mentioned that you had your drive formatted case sensitive. This is quite unusual, thus we don't normally ask about it. Please check these additional suggestions out, and let us know how things are going. I can tell you that we have had only one reported user in the past that was running a case sensitive Mac OS format. And he was not able to run Fender FUSE on that drive. He was able to install and run FUSE on a non-case sensitive drive.

Best Regards,

Alan

Hey Alan,

I'm a software developer and need the drive to be case sensitive. I've tried a USB Stick as external storage and installed Fuse on that stick.
I've not tried to install Mavericks on the USB Stick, boot from USB and run Fuse there. Probably will give that a try as well.

I can't reformat my internal drive. So that's not an option.

Haven't told you, because you didn't ask. :)

Cheers,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your post. Case sensitive formatting is very unusual. So it is not a typical question we ask. Including you, I have seen it come up 3 times in all the years I have been here. None the less, clearly there are people such as yourself who need to use this format. I would strongly suggest that you create a partition or otherwise run Fender® FUSE™ on a separate disk or partition that is not Case Sensitive formatted. Please let us know how things go and if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan

HI Alan,

I've tried installing Fuse on a non case sensitive USB Stick. Same issue. However I tried installing a fresh OSX on a non case sensitive MacOS FS and can confirm it works fine there.

So it would be a good idea to add this hint to the support docs. I've found no way getting it to start on a case sensitive filesystem.

Cheers,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the updated information. I'm glad to hear that you have Fender® FUSE™ up and running at this point. And our apologies for any frustration you encountered along the way. The caveat with the case sensitive formatting is that is is highly unusual in the consumer world. I have run across it twice including yourself in nearly 5 years supporting Fender FUSE. But it is a good point. And we will definitely consider adding a note about compatibility in regard to the case sensitive HFS formatting for Mac OS X. Please let me know if I can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan
