I don't know the answers to your questions as I own a Mustang II that only uses a one button foot switch but you'll get a faster and more thorough response(s) by posting your questions in the correct forum.

This forum is to answer questions specifically related to the FUSE software which handles a lot of different amps.

By asking your questions in the "Mustang™ I / II / III / IV / V / Mini / Floor" forum your bound to have better luck.

Here are some instructions on how to use the footswitches:

Mustang III 2-button Footswitch Instructions

Connect a 2-button footswitch to your Mustang amplifier to enable remote multi-function foot control.

Use the Utility menus to assign one of the following functions to the 2-button footswitch:

• Select presets (up/down)
• Select Quick Access presets (QA1/QA2)
• Bypass effects (various combinations)
• Set TAP interval

1. Press the UTIL button on the top of the amplifier to enter the Utility menu

2. Press the UTIL button 3 more times until the display reads 2-Btn Ftsw Mode. If you pass it by accident, just keep pressing UTIL until it comes around again

3. The footswitch will be set to Down/Up (default setting)

4. Turn the DATA WHEEL until the desired footswitch function is selected

5. Once the desired function is selected, press EXIT. The last thing you chose will stay.

These are the available functions:

a. Down/Up - choose this function if you'd like to simply scroll up and down through the presets. This allows you to scroll through all 100 presets in a linear fashion (in other words, you can't skip from preset 01 to preset 10 without pressing the Up button 9 times or the Down button 91 times).

b. QA1/QA2 - choose this function if you'd like to use the pedal to switch between 2 Quick Access presets of your choosing. You will not be able to scroll through the rest of the presets using the pedal if you choose this option.

c. Stomp/Mod - choose this option if you'd like button 1 to turn a stomp box for the selected preset on and off, and button 2 to turn a modulation effect for the selected preset on and off. You will not be able to scroll through the rest of the presets using the pedal if you choose this option.

d. Stomp/Delay - choose this option if you'd like button 1 to turn a stomp box for the selected preset on and off, and button 2 to turn the delay effect for the selected preset on and off. You will not be able to scroll through the rest of the presets using the pedal if you choose this option.

e. Stomp/Reverb - choose this option if you'd like button 1 to turn a stomp box for the selected preset on and off, and button 2 to turn the reverb effect for the selected preset on and off. You will not be able to scroll through the rest of the presets using the pedal if you choose this option.

f. Stomp/Tap - choose this option if you'd like button 1 to turn a stomp box for the selected preset on and off, and button 2 to set delay time or modulation rate settings for the selected preset by rhythmically pressing button 2. You will not be able to scroll through the rest of the presets using the pedal if you choose this option.

 NOTE: You might wonder why there are 3 Quick Access slots when there are only 2 buttons on the footswitch. That's where the optional 4-button footswitch comes in. You can use it by itself to get similar options to the 2-button footswitch, but with a little more flexibility:

4-Button Footswitching options

Connect a 4-button footswitch to your Mustang amplifier to enable remote multi-function foot control. The footswitch display and LEDs show you some of the same information as the amplifier screen, so you can, for example, tune your guitar and select presets by watching the footswitch without ever looking at the screen onboard the Mustang III!

• Select Quick Access presets (QA1/QA2/QA3)
• Select presets (up/down/bank)
• Bypass effects
• Activate the Tuner

You can also use the 2-button and 4-button footswitches together to gain access to more than a dozen footswitch options:

6-Button Footswitching options

Plug both a 4-button and a 2-button footswitch into your Mustang amplifier to expand your remote control options. By assigning different functions to each footswitch you can create more than a dozen different foot control combinations.

For example, you could assign Quick Access presets to the 4-button footswitch and Up/Down presets to the 2-button footswitch. Or you could bypass effects with the 4-button footswitch and select presets with the 2-button footswitch.

If you are editing a preset on the amplifier, just press SAVE twice to save it. If you'd like to save it in a different position, press SAVE once, and then select the preset # you would like to save it over (using the data wheel) before pressing SAVE again.

NOTE: When you save a preset over another preset, you are overwriting the original settings for that preset so the original preset will no longer be available on your amp (unless you download it again via Fuse).

If you are editing a preset in Fender Fuse, you can click the SAVE button instead of pressing it on the amp. Click SAVE a second time to save the setting over the preset # you are editing, or type in a different preset # and click SAVE to overwrite that preset with your newly edited preset.

I'm going from memory (no amp or Fuse in front of me).

If you are using the 3 QA (Quick Access) slots, the presets do not need to be all next to each other. You could assign preset #00 to QA1, preset #22 to QA2 and preset #89 to QA3. Now when you press the 3 QA buttons on the 4 button footswitch (in mode 1) you will be able to access those 3 presets instantly when you press the pedals, even though they are far away from each other in the preset list.
