I've the ve 2.7 Fuse software and Silverlight Ve 5, running on XP sp3. All is fine if I fiddle with amp and stompbox settings, but as soon as I try to connect to the community or retrieve a previously (separately) downloaded sound profile or a band track, I always get a silverlight error popup, and whoosh - Fuse disappears. I have to reboot in order to get Fuse to run again.
I've deleted both Fuse and Silverlight and reloaded, but to no avail. Any help would be gratefully received....

I should also add that I've followed the instructions elsewhere in this forum, ie reset IE8, checked that Silverlight is enabled as an add-on, etc etc. The exact s/w versions I have are Fuse 2.7.1 and Silverlight 5.1.20125. The silverlight popup error says "in-browser error".

You can kill the two fuse processes via task manager. Then it will start again. At least that worked for me today.

Hi chrisw33,

We will be happy to assist. Thanks for providing us with that information. Please take a look through the included troubleshooting guide. You may have checked out some of the steps included. But please go through this guide. It includes some of the most common resolutions to this issue. Please check this out and let us know how it goes. And we can go from there. Thanks.

Fender® FUSE® Troubleshooting Steps (Windows & Mac)
Step 1: Uninstall and Reinstall Fender FUSE and Microsoft Silverlight (Windows only) Uninstall Fender FUSE &Microsoft Silverlight from Control Panel/Programs (WinVista/7) or Control Panel/Add|Remove Programs (Win XP). Also, delete the Silverlight OutOfBrowser folder(s): To delete the Microsoft Silverlight “Out Of Browser” folder, please enter %localappdata% in your Search bar in the Start menu (or in Run in the Start Menu forWindows XP). Once you enter this command, you should get a window that shows a variety of folders. Please look for the Microsoft folder inside this location. Go inside of this folder. Then locate the Silverlight folder and delete it.

Windows Vista & 7 users should also delete the “Local Low” folder for Silverlight. To get to this location, please click on “AppData” in the top of the window that is visible from theWindows Explorer window that opens with the %localappdata% command. There click on the LocalLow folder, and locate the Microsoft folder. Go inside the Microsoft folder. Locate and delete the Silverlight folder there as well.
(Windows and Mac) Go to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight ... fault.aspx. The site will open a new window and determine which build of the software your system needs and offer a download link there. Please click on the link and install Silverlight. (If your installation of Silverlight is up-to-date, you will see an update link.) This will insure that your system has the latest version of Silverlight. Please download and install the latest version of Fender FUSE here: https://fuse.fender.com/.

Step 2: (Windows only) Address possible IE issues
In certain cases, Internet Explorer may be preventing Fender FUSE from launching correctly. If the previous steps have not been effective in correcting the behavior in Fender FUSE, please launch Internet Explorer, go to Tools and select Internet Options. In the General tab, you will want to delete Temporary files, Cookies & History. Check Fender FUSE to see if the behavior is corrected. If not, it is possible that the IE Silverlight ActiveX Add-on has become disabled. It needs to be enabled for Fender FUSE to launch and run properly. Please go to Tools/Manage Add-ons, as shown in the image below. In the main Add-ons screen use the pull down list to select “Add-ons that run without requiring permission”. If the Microsoft Silverlight Add-on is disabled, please select it as shown and select Enable. Then click OK and exit the window.

Hi "Fender folks"
Done all this - that was what my second post was meant to clarify.

And hi there DarkPenguin
Thanks for the info. Didn't think of that, was too hassled by the crash-out: haven't seen such poor application software behaviour like that since Windows 95, and that's a long long time ago.....

Mine just crashes mostly randomly. I'm almost always just switching a preset when it dies. Was saving one once when it crashed.

I'm getting tempted to write a powershell script to kill any fuse processes before kicking off fuse. Tired of going into task manager...

Hi Guys,

Thank very much for your posts and feedback here. Both of these situations sound fairly specific to what may be occurring on the PC in question. It would be very helpful if we could take a look at log files from each system. Please consider sending us a set of log files as detailed in the PDF document linked below. From there, we can follow up with each regarding the issues that you are seeing in a more focused manner.

Best Regards,

I was about to send you Fender folk a log file, when I decided instead to obtain another laptop. OK it took a few weeks to sort, but this one is a whizzy HP Elite Pro running Windows 7 64 bit, and no other software (well, apart from IE10, adobe pdf and flash). Guess what ? When I click on any of the dropdowns at the top of the Fuse screen, crashout.

My XP Run did not find %localappdata%. What alternative do I have to finding the microsoft folder mentioned?

"Also, delete the Silverlight OutOfBrowser folder(s): To delete the Microsoft Silverlight “Out Of Browser” folder, please enter %localappdata% in your Search bar in the Start menu (or in Run in the Start Menu forWindows XP). Once you enter this command, you should get a window that shows a variety of folders. Please look for the Microsoft folder inside this location. Go inside of this folder. Hi socalscott,

We would suggest that you go through the complete steps in the Fender® Forum support sticky here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=66946. You will want to go through the steps in the "Fender® FUSE™ Loading" issues link inside this Forum post.

Please go through all steps including the fresh Admin account step. And be sure to test after each step to see if Fender FUSE is running correctly. If you do not have success, please gather and send in the requested log files. Then we can take a look at them and follow up with you. Thanks very much.

Best Regards,
