 Hi Folks,

I've had my Mustang 3 and have been using Fender Fuse for about 8 months. Last week I got a notice when I turned on the software that an update was available and I downloaded and installed the newest 2.7.0

Immediately after, my AMP would not connect to the software/PC; although I was able to see the Mustang AMP in my device settings in Windows 7 which indicated that the USB hub was working properly. No matter what I did: deleted, reinstalled, I could not get the software and I had the "No amp connected". Quite frustrating. I spent hours trying everything I could find from these help forums, but nothing worked.

I then tried downloading and installing the older version 2.6.1 and the same thing- no better than 2.7.0 version. I found this in the forum as a link. How is it that prior to downloading this version could I have run this working without any issues?

Emails to the tech support were returned, but after a few exchanges and sending my activity logs ect., they told me I likely had a "hardware problem" and that a reinstall of the OS might correct it. I didn't personally feel this was the case because my HP computer is only 1 year old and has the i7 processer and runs perfectly. Nonetheless, I had seemingly no other solutions so I backed up and did a factory restore on the computer. When finished, I reloaded the 2.7.0 back on the desktop and still no luck. Again, the AMP shows it is connected but it still would not work. I think that put to rest that it was a hardware issue vs. a driver issue which is what I suspected all along. I also rechecked the USB connection (no hubs) with an alternate cable I had and still no connection. I felt I had proved the issue was not with my PC or cable; these were the same hardware I had been running for 8 months prior to the 2.7.0 download.

Emails to tech support after that and sending another log were no help. They replied again that I still have a hardware issue and to go see someone at the "geek squad." Every other peripheral works perfectly and FUSE was the only issue I ever had since I downloaded the new version. I felt that they were brushing me off and didn't want to deal with the driver issue that I suspected was the root cause.

The last attempt I made was to search and Google the version before 2.6.1 (It is 2.6.0)...fender tech support couldn't provide it...so I found it on a 3rd party website. I downloaded and installed it and the software immediately recognized it and is now working perfectly. I knew it worked immediately since I got the "synching with computer" when the AMP and software were both started. I can get it to work repeatedly now with this old version. I am not sure if this was the version I had been running seamlessly for the past 8 months prior to downloading the update.

Regardless of what Fender says about 2.7.0, I am now convinced that the newest versions has many bugs. It is annoying that the issue is conveniently blamed on hardware, when my experiences suggest otherwise. I wrote this to let people know to try the older 2.6.0 if you can't get anything else to work. I hope your experiences were better than mine.

The Fender tech support were very nice by the way, I don't necessarily blame them. I just think based on all the problems folks are having with connections there should be more testing/solutions to this problem.

As for 2.6.0, I cant tell any difference in terms of features. I will continue to use this until a stable version is released.

Thanks, Mike

Thanks for your posting. But I can tell you from my own experience, the older versions of Fuse had also big probs with certain hardware and some OS Configurations. And horrible general bugs. Maybe not on yours. But dont think that 2.6 is the "better" version just because it runs on your computer. It didn't work on several others. And on these others maybe the 2.7 runs fine.

But we will never hear from some Fender official: Ok guys, sorry, we are not able to deliver a bug free, Silverlight based Version of Fuse, which runs on all aimed platforms. But we are urged to be happy to assist though we can't. So we tell you, the error is in your hardware.

Before that, they would easier admit the existance of "Fizz" in MIII V.1 Amps ...
