Just bought a Mustang 1 v2 yesterday. All my factory presets in the amber bank sound distorted, except for the twin reverb. Doesn't sound like the demos I've seen on Youtube. Did I get a bad one? Guitar is Chinese LP copy with humbuckers, everything set mid range.

On the "preset" download page I searched "clean" in all genres. Found four or five that actually were.. I couldn't get anything to clean up manually, even using the software. Didn't realize I'd need a degree from MIT to operate this thing. Still pretty ool little amp.

Hi and welcome..
I'm not familiar with the Mustang amps - I have a GDec 3 30, but I found that a lot of the presets that came with it as well as most of the ones I've downloaded from the website are way too distorted as well. I used fuse to lower the amplifier gain and volume and in some cases this helped, in others it didn't all that much, so I just deleted those presets. I now tend to create my own - either by modifying an existing preset or starting pretty much from scratch. That's one of the real advantages of these amplifiers and fuse IMO.
I found often that the gain and volume would be way too high...also if an OD or Fuzz box was being used, the settings were way too distorted to my ears. Go figure??
A bit of compression can sometimes help and changing the speaker cabinet (timbre) has helped as well for some, but as I said previously, some presets I just ended up consigning to the electronic trashbin.
Hope this helps...
Alex
