It's a problem a lot of us have - the ability to quickly and easily change the order of our presets on our Mustang gear. A forum user by the name of ischenitte created an app a while back called Horse Tamer that would allow you to manipulate the backup files created by FUSE and easily reorder your preset files. Problem is that this app was Windows only. But I'm a Mac user so…

I've created my own Mac app I call Speed Shop. It does pretty much everything that Horse Tamer does, but for us Mac users. You use it in the same way that you'd use Horse Tamer - create a backup using FUSE, open the backup in Speed Shop, edit, save, and then transfer the new backup to your amp using FUSE.

I've tested this pretty thoroughly using FUSE 2.7.0.23 and my V1 Mustang III, on a Mac running OS X 10.7.5. I'm pretty sure it'll work on other devices, but I could use some help testing. If you don't mind testing, please download the app at the link below. I've got some crash reporting built in, so if the app crashes, please launch it again, and allow the app to submit any crash reports that may have been generated.

At the download page linked below, you'll also see a link to a Feedback page. If you find bugs, have suggestions, etc., please let me know using that form. (Or post here, but the feedback form makes it easier for me to track bugs in specific versions of the app.) If you do have issues, please be sure to let me know which version of FUSE you're using, along with which amp you tested with.

I've got some ideas for additional features to add in future updates (printing a preset quick-reference card is planned for the first update), but I'd like to get this initial version tested and ready to go first. Once I've got some good feedback from you guys, my plan is to push the app to the Mac App Store for wider distribution and easier updating.

Thanks to ischenitte for the original work done on Horse Tamer, and for giving me the idea to make a Mac version.

Current version is 0.9.4, last updated on July 5, 2013.

For more info, and to download the app: http://joshbuhler.github.io/SpeedShop You'll also find the latest version there if I ever forget to update this post.

Speed Shop is also open source. If you'd like to contribute to the project, you'll find it on GitHub at the link above.

Release History
0.9.4 Undo/redo support, notice on quitting before saving

Thanks for this Josh-and I don't even own a Mustang! I do have a G-DEC 3 30, though. Any chance of being able to connect to it in the future to achieve the same purpose? Hint hint, wink nudge! ;)

btw, I did download and launch it, of course it couldn't connect, but it didn't crash either.

Just to clarify - this app won't actually connect directly to your amp - you'll still need FUSE to do that. This app will only allow you to work with the backups that you create using FUSE, and then you'll use FUSE to transfer the updated backup to your amp.

As for G-DEC support, I traded mine in when I bought my Mustang, so I can't directly test it. But if you're willing to make a backup of your amp using FUSE, and send me a copy of it, I'll check it out and see what I can do. Just message me with a link to where I can download it.

Good, that was my understanding too! :)

Thanks, that's much appreciated! I will PM you right after I post this!

Took longer than expected (work and life got in the way), but G-Dec support has been added. Thanks for sending me that backup file to test with. The download link above will allow you to download an updated version of the app.

Josh, my apologies for the delay in responding and thanking you for your effort! Your app works great, I haven't run into any issues.

You've made it much easier to rearrange my presets. Thanks again! (Where's an "applause" smiley when you need one? :) )

Hi Josh, hi Co-Fuse-Users, hi Fender.

I first must give a *huge* thank you to Josh for giving us Mac users a Horse Tamer-like program.
Second I must ask Fender here: why are they ignoring the user wishes for a feature to "non-destructively re-order their presets on the amp" for such a long time now ( count over a year)?

Anyway: a little information about "Speed Shop" (see link above):
Josh was so nice to merge a little change I did to his code back into the softwares main line on GitHub. So if you go to the download link on the first post of this thread, you can get the new version 0.9.2 right now which has:
* added support for the new V.2 series of the Mustang amps. (Mustang I,II,III-V V.2)

Josh and me tested with Fuse 2.7.0 - so upgrade your Fuse, if not already done.

And again a big thanks to Josh for making his software open source on GitHub which enables other "hackers" to add functionality.

Happy "preset re-arranging" to all of you.

And Greetings from Germany.

Thanks a lot for this nice tool.

I wanted to give it try, but obviuosly the given link

http://joshbuhler.github.io/SpeedShop

does not seem to work.

I will always get an Error 503.

Hmmm… it looks like GitHub has been having some pages issues affecting a "small percentage of people" today.

In the meantime, the direct download page to version 0.9.2 (current latest) is here: http://cl.ly/0O03171a210k

Hi All,

anyone know if there is a version of this or a similar applet that works on Snow Leopard?

Not currently a Snow Leopard version - I don't have it installed, and couldn't test on it, so it wasn't compiled for it. I'll take a look though, and see what I can do.

Took a look, and supporting Snow Leopard isn't something I can do easily. The app is built using some new features that became available in 10.7, so I'd need to rewrite a large chunk of the app just to support 10.6. (Pretty much memory stuff using ARC.) I don't have a ton of time to spend on Speed Shop as it is, so I'd prefer to spend that time working on newer features. (Spoiler alert - working on printing lists of presets for the next release.)

Just curious, is there a reason you're still running 10.6 and haven't updated? (I'm still using 10.7 at home, but plan to upgrade when 10.9 rolls out in a month or so.)

However, if there is someone out there willing to adapt the app to 10.6, they're welcome to fork the project on Github and make compatible versions for older OS Xs.
