Hi humchucker,

Thanks for the update. Dell makes good PCs. However, there is one thing that you will want to watch out for. There is a "add-on" software package called "Dell Stage". It comes with "Accuweather". In our experience, if any components of this product are installed and running, it will most likely cause Fender® FUSE™ to be unable to connect and sync with its hardware device (i.e. Mustang™, G-DEC® 3, etc.).

You can turn these processes off by going into Task Manager and ending Accuweather and/or Dell Stage. Then Fender FUSE should connect correctly with your amp. Let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Thanks, if that's some kind of windows crapware then no problem as I use only Linux (and PLUG if I must).

Otherwise the Dell is the ONLY one I found that comes close to what I want, it's only the swinging frame support that I have doubts about. What I'm planing is a very lightweight structure (pinned into two tubes fixed to the amp) that supports a laptop, my Terratec external soundcard and maybe a small mixer for a roadworthy mini studio.

Anyone thinking of using a laptop for serious soundwork beware, some of the apps are processor hogs. I use rosegarden for editing midi and such, I seldom need to launch it on the other i7 laptop but when I do it can run out of breath, even on my my 8-core deathstar at times.

I just bought a Boss Me-70 btw, my dealer has been using one for 4 years and swears by it.

So the next thing I wanna see from Fender, because I do think they make well designed guitars, is a Strat with 24 frets, and whatever pu's I want :-)

Hi humchucker,

Thanks for the update here. We would like to let you know that there is one item to be aware of with Dell PCs. This would be a software package called Dell Stage. It also contains a widget called Accu Weather. Please see the note below. And let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

"Important Note: For Dell PC users, a conflict was reported by a Dell PC/Fender FUSE user in which a bundled Dell application package called "Dell Stage" effects the USB/HID functionality. In this case, Fender FUSE will not connect to supported devices. To correct this, turn off the Dell Stage applications and (if open) the specific bundled widget called "Accu Weather". Once these widgets are turned off, Fender FUSE should connect to your supported device."
