I'm trying to work my Mustang amps with the latest version of Fuse on an eepc netbook (Mustang-I & Asus 1001P in this case) but the media library 'amp' page for example scrolls down only as far as Green-#-MovieTremolux after which I cannot access any of the presets for copying to local media. The scrollbar gives only that much slide. I haven't gotten into other areas of Fuse on this netbook yet but it looks like the software may not have been tested small screens.

I don't see the customary dialog to edit my own existing article so I'll use a reply...

With respect to low resolution screens the FUSE window also opens under the panel if it is set to be on top of the screen (as I do on all my computers and all my OS'es). I also just noticed that FUSE minimum requirements include 1024x768 resolution whereas most netbooks are below that. Thus technically the issue is dead, so much for another completley unjustifiable & useless limitation.

hi humchucker...
You can edit your messages using the edit button, bottom right on your submitted message.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'so much for another completely unjustifiable & useless limitation' so can't help with that. :?

Thanks, that should come in handy since I only read my messages after posting them.

Why is the limitation there at all? Probably that 'silverligt' POS. I run 4 or more complete linux systems on that netbook and none of them have the problem! That's complete OS'es BTW & not applications.

But, that's generally when you want to edit. Prior to posting, it's called proofreading. Or, perhaps in your case, thinking things through before hitting submit.

...just a couple of thoughts 8)
cheers,
Alex

There's a thread on here about this topic (resizable screen) and Fender end it by saying they are looking into it- but it is dated a while ago.

It must be possible in Silverlight - such a basic requirement.
I was hoping to get a netbook just for Fuse and as a recording device via the USB (for later mixing on proper PC)
But until the screen is resizeable it's pointless.

Hi Guys,

Currently, our minimum specifications include video resolution of 1024 x 768. Most Netbooks max out at 1024 x 600. This is likely the issue being encountered here. One possible solution could be to try an external monitor if the Netbook in question supports it and higher resolutions. Please let us know if we can assist further. Thanks.

This is very good advice and could be the answer/workaround for some.

Another could be to search out Virtual Desktop applications. For instance, here is one called GiMeSpace Desktop Extender.

I don't use that product myself as I run a replacement shell (bbLean since 1998) that has built in virtual desktops. But, GiMeSpace or a similar program should get the OP and other netbook users the usability they desire...

Thank you one and all, I'm obviously new here so excuse my weird behavior (which is flaky to begin with). I hate both web hosted forums and anything coming from microsuck so much that just thinking of them makes me lose my cool.

It's NOT a screen size issue but rather a screen resolution issue. My idea was to velcro tape the thing to the amp. I did find a very powerful netbook with a 10" high-res screen but it's no longer in production and was around $3k (a NEC model made in Japan). There are FULL-HD iPads on the way and 12"-13" portables will follow. The best processing power is already available with quad-core i7 or AMD class cpu's.

Note that running FUSE is but one possibility for such a guitar/base laptop. I use Rosegarden in linux to generate live backing tracks, or Audacity to just play an audio track, or Hydrogen the drum machine to practice with a live and adjustable pattern. The only reason I tried my eepc is that I have it and it's no longer good for much else, I can't even give it away.

later

Hi humchucker,

I hear where you are coming from. One thing we have seen a few users try is hooking up a higher resolution monitor to Netbooks so as to access (if available) a higher resolution to view the entire GUI on Fender FUSE (1024 x 768). Perhaps this is an option for you. Also, Fender FUSE is available for Mac OS X in case you have a Mac. Please let us know if we can assist further.

No Mac, no windows except in dire emergencies. The extra moni is too much overhead. I'm trying to keep it simple with everything attached to he amp so that it's ready to grab and run with when I hear sirens ;-)

There ARE high resolution (in fact FULL HD) laptops out already, I have an Asus G73 but it's a 17" momma (really bright & sharp screen!). 12" full-hd should be out soon.

Hi humchucker,

Thanks for the reply. In your first post, you mention a Netbook. I thought we were talking about resolution and compatibility for Netbooks specifically. And yes, most current and even recent model Notebooks will not have compatibility issues with Fender FUSE in regard to video resolution.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

I tried an asus eepc, at the same time as I think it unlikely that FUSE will be rewritten so I'm facing up to having to use a slightly bigger laptop not because they're bigger but because only ones with bigger screens offer higher resolutions. I could just wait a year, full-hd iPads already exist.

Since I wrote this it has unfortunately become a lesser problem than the recording one I mention somewhere else :-(

been away a while...

I got rid of THAT netbook and am looking for a replacement. Dell have XPS 12" & 13" models that I'm looking at

But then I also sold both my Mustangs :-(

The FLOOR is a multi-effects candidate until tomorrow noon
