For nearly two months I've been trying to get this wretched FUSE software to work with my brand new G-DEC 3 amp and get past this infamous "stuck knob" bug.

I've been promised this bug would be fixed.

I've been told that it was fixed.

When after two failures to get the new program release working bug-free on two different machines, Fender TSL has tried to blame me for the problem, claiming that it was my inept uninstallation of previous versions that has caused the failure and have tried to move this problem out of the public eye into email, where I've been instructed to do a ton of irrelevant make-work which has not made the slightest difference in the outcome on either machine.

Tonight I found a third Windows machine that has never had FUSE, Silverlight or .NET installed on it.

I carefully installed through IE the latest version of Silverlight, which was successful.

I installed FenderFUSE_FULL_2.6.1.35.exe including .NET, which was successful.

I rebooted everything and started my G-DEC3 and FUSE. Everything loaded correctly and the G-DEC3 was seen by FUSE.

BUT THE FUSE UI "KNOBS" WERE STILL STUCK WHEN CHANGING BETWEEN PRESETS.

This is where I came in back in July.

Obviously, I can't be blamed for screwing up the uninstall of previous versions as there were none of any of the relevant software.

It appears to me that having debugged the problem with the current model Mustang, the recently discontinued G-DEC3 has been thrown overboard as far as FUSE bug remediation.

When I asked a simple yes/no question about this bugfix specifically working on the G-DEC3 or not, I did not get a straight answer [see below]. I wasn't asking about "various amps," I was asking about the G-DEC3. It's a simple question.

This particular amp:

G-DEC3 FIFTEEN
TYPE PR 938
SN CMTF101017**
VERSION 1.04

I can't imagine that Fender doesn't have a comparable example on which to test the FUSE software.

If FMIC is not going to support this amp any longer in FUSE development, they should say so, and not try to blame the users.

Hi Bezmotivnik,

I believe we have had a number of users with various amps see good results with this build of Fender FUSE. We have been communicating with you off and on in regard to the issue that you are continuing to report. What I have attempted to communicate to you is that I believe that you may be seeing an uninstall issue where in the installer is not (for some reason) removing the old Fender files that it needs to. What I would suggest that you do an uninstall of the Fender FUSE software and manually remove the Fender folder in Documents. You will want to be sure and back up your Fender folder before you do this to avoid losing any data you may want to keep in there. Then re-install the software (new build) and see if that corrects the issue you are seeing. Please let me know how it goes. Thanks.

Bez. Why cannot you take the G-DEC to a certified Fender Dealer? Have them
fix the problem and prove to you it works. Leave it there until it is done?

Why are you going through a telephone tag-team-chase-race when the Fender Dealer
stores should help you or sent it back to Fender or give you a new amp???

Also, there are 1000s of users who do not have the problem and are using the PC/IBM
computer, FUSE & G-DEC amp with all three components working together????

Suggestion. Get a laptop computer and load everything best as you can. If not working,
then take the laptop and amp to a "FENDER DEALER" and show the techy what is up?

Your issue(s) and experiences are of great concern to me as I've just purchased
a brand new Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty amp (I own 20+ amps, most are Fender).

I'll be following this very closely to see why you're having a problem that most other
G-DEC users do not have ~ and I desire to see how you are taken care of and supported.
Thank you for posting.

Please keep on posting as an entry log sharing each service event as they happen and keeping us "in the know"

Thanks again. Toppscore :)

Hi Bezmotivnik,

I don't see a phone number in the email we have from you. Can you please email a phone number and we can call you to offer some additional assistance? I still suspect that there is something unusual going on with the installation of Fender FUSE on your PC(s). Please understand I am not blaming you or your computers at all. I am merely stating that in regard to the "stuck knob" fix, we are seeing success both internally and with customers with the new version 2.6.1.35 build. We would like the opportunity to assist you further. Please contact us with a phone number. Thanks.

Great! There you go Bez!
This is one reason to buy from a big company
that has customer support as a priority.
Rather than buy from small Boutique shops.
Toppscore :)

BTW let us know if you get the fix solved.

Bezmotivnik, I completely understand your frustration. I've been there before. I just wanted to say I really don't think Fender TSL was trying to blame you or waste your time. I think they are really doing their best, and just having some trouble getting the job done. Hang in there, I'm sorry it hasn't been an easy fix.

+1

I think software is the toughest item to wrestle wth.
Too many possibilities on the computer side of things.
Too many levels of computer users. Different operating systems.
Lots of possibilities. Once you get past this, you are home free.

Hi Bezmotivnik,
I hear what you are saying and sympathise. No mindless platitudes from me.
Are you still using the older version of fuse (2.30) that I told you about? I am and will continue to do so until I am assured by both Fender and other GDec 3 users that the new version, whatever iteration that turns out to be, works properly. I agree with you that this assurance has not been given....or if it has, I missed it.
Hang in there a bit longer, my friend surely change is on its way....
Best,
Alex
