Is there any way the blocked amber bank thing can be removed for ever from the amps?

Try this scenario:
You are playing on an amber preset, you make some changes and decide to save it.. you are familiar with the saving process and just press the save button twice..
but it jumps to the green channel and you promptly overwrite the green preset you had.
Dumb!!

Hi markcc,

Thanks for your feedback. I believe that the amp is set up this way in hardware. But I will pass along an inquiry to the related engineer. Keep in mind that with the amp stand alone, you can save Presets from the amber bank to either the green or red banks. And with the amp connected to Fender FUSE, you can save from any Preset (Bank) to any Preset (Bank).

One other thing I only realised recently on the amp (MII), is when you want to save from an amber preset, it only lets you change to red or green, but it locks the position number.

So I want to write over green bank position 2 or red bank position 3 - but it won't let me. This is silly - it should be a simple twist of the knob to get to the actual preset I want to overwrite.

So now I'm stuck - I really don't want to kill red or green position 7, but it gives me no choice.

Yes I know if I used Fuse blah blah, but I'm just after a quick save...

It would be nice to able to edit the utility/system parameters (of my Mustang Floor for example) from FUSE.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the continuing feedback. It is appreciated and we are definitely passing it on to the right folks here. markcc, I hear where you are coming from. With the Fender Mustang I/II amps, they are set up in hardware to allow saving to only the Red and Green banks. And it sounds like you may not want to use the Fender FUSE software. But, if you do decide to use it, you will not only get full access to saving Presets to all 3 banks, you will get access to all the available editing parameters for your amp. Please let us know if we can assist. Thanks.

just so you know : I'm happy to use Fuse and I like it, but not every time I want to use the amp.
The laptop is old and the drive whines and it's less trouble without!

Just received my Mustang 1 yesterday (haven't had an amp in years and have decided I want to get back into playing, like I used to). With it, came the card for the FUSE software.

I went to install fuse on my MacBook Pro and the first thing I saw was Microsoft Silverlight. I have been very successfully running "Microsoft free" on my Macs for years and wish to keep it that way.

Isn't there a way around having to load Silverlight? This is a deal breaker for me in terms of loading and using FUSE. Instead, I'll just use the Mustang as is. Seems a shame though as there appears to be much potential with the addition of FUSE.

Is another version of FUSE in the works that perhaps will not require Silverlight?
I very much hope so.

Barry

Hi Barry,

I hear what you are saying here. And I understand that some Mac users are reluctant to load Microsoft products on their computer. Interestingly, Netflix also uses Silverlight for their Mac and Windows users. And if you have ever had an Office product loaded on your Mac, then that would (hopefully) be a good example of having a Microsoft product in use on a Mac. We are happy to offer any assistance we can. Please let us know if we can help.

Barry - really that is a bizarre attitude
Microsoft are no more or less saintly than Apple - there was a time 15 years ago, where I might have agreed with you (at least till I realised the product was something useful).. but this isn't vegetarianism you're talking about..
Silverlight is computer code, it has no opinion or attitude
AFAIK the main alternative would have been Flash based which would now be blocked on Apple

Any chance that we might be able to reassign the functionality of the footswitch?

For instance, it would be nice to make one button cycle the presets and the other cycle the effects or even set the tap.

It would be awesome if with the footswitch reassigned and using either the FUSE software or attached USB memory it could be used as a multi looper.

Also, releasing an API or the specs for the USB interface could allow others to come up with cool stuff on their own!

Thank you for your reply.
I use both PCs and Mac and learned long ago that avoiding MS products on the Mac results in a better experience (for me). Hence, I've never loaded Office either.

That said, I'll give FUSE a try and see what happens.

Fro my perspective, it is really quite a straight ahead attitude, based on my own experience over the years.

While I use (and have programmed for) PCs and Macs, I keep all my music and audio on the Mac, which in my experience (consistently and repeatedly) is always a better experience - for me - when there are no MS products involved.

That said, I'm excited to see what FUSE is about, so I'm going to load it and find out.
Still, I do wish applications could move away from proprietary plug-ins like Silverlight.

Best regards,
Barry

Barry - it would be true to say that the Mac changed my life - I worked in graphic design and when dtp came along it was a revolution and I jumped in - I became a nerd and still am one, but moved to the dark side..
Now I worry about the Apple walled garden approach so feel I have to have to stick up for MS - and I also admire Mr Bill more.. !
I agree it's a shame Fender didn't program Fuse in C++ or similar... at least Fuse doesn't second guess what you want.

Well, this time it isn't MS that is causing the issue. I went ahead and tried to install FUSE.
Silverlight installed successfully. So did the Mono framework. The hang is FUSE itself.
I keep trying but keep getting an "installation failed" message with no further details.
(Started another thread here in the hope someone from Fender can help.)

Barry
