Well, I don't envision buying more Mustangs so that I can get an old win7 laptop and run FUSE. I completely switched to linux when vista came out :p . Nobody I know has a Mac or a Windows computer that they would care to run silverlight on to connect to some cheezy server, but that's all a different story.
There is just no way that Fender is going to keep FUSE going as is when Line6 has stuff like AMPLIFI running on Android and IOS with others following fast. So I take the news blackout to mean that something is coming and like you said, the only issue is whether it will work with current gear or only on a new line and the current amps are just being sold off. I refuse to believe that Fender would not have a plan that accommodates the recent buyers and if not then those who care will obviously vote with their feet. Fender of all companies has always been adept at parlaying quality and the tradition thing into repeat buyers (here I am!) and if I'm wrong then we'll find out soon because the rest of the industry is not waiting and the new batch of players don't care much for tradition or being patient.

I agree with you on this. I would not be at all surprised if we see a new line by this time next year that runs on IOS. I have to believe that they would include some type of backwards compatible software. I have had zero issues with Fuse so I can't speak from that angle. I do recognize however that if I want to be able to use my Mustang II in 10 years, I don't expect it to be able to hook up to any current technology of the time and thus, have did my best to configure Fuse free use. This is why I wish I got the MIII in hindsight but I still have an awesome amp for the money. I don't need 16 amp models... I really only go to 3 maybe 4. I remember when a hundred bucks got you a Gorilla amp... boy have we gotten spoiled.

Well, this time next year is too late and my next phone will be ubuntu. If they wait another year the tide goes out.
Anyway, this is totally not about me. I remember when $100 got me a Bassman (couldn't afford a Twin yet)
So far, I like the Mustang but need more combinations of effects and Mommy won't buy me a Macbook.

This time next year I'll still be playing my Mustang II. Seems like lately, the mentality of Modeling amps is going the way of the Smart Phone mentality. I'm not thrilled with the Fuzz stomp on the mustang but I'm not going to run out buy the next gen Mustang if it offers a great Fuzz stomp... I'll just buy a fuzz pedal. Can't speak for others but I just wanted the Amp models to sound good and have some decent reverb. All the rest is gravy.

But as you said... its not about me either.

Oh yes it does. I will not run wine nor virtual box. They would sully my config.
I suspect when I find a good enough preamp-amp combo I'll just use guitarix.
Until then it makes me feel good to see that old Fender logo plate again.

They would 'sully your config'? I can't imagine how. But if that's the way you feel, what about dual-booting?

I use VM Ware on my MacBook at work to run calibration software for the Plasma displays. It works great. Had it set up as a dual boot but I like the VM Ware setup much better as it allows me to run both OSs at the same time. I think I'll see if fuse works out of curiosity. Don't see why it wouldnt

Hey guys, let's keep this discussion on topic. This thread is about Fender FUSE...not computer system software. Thanks

grritz, perhaps you are missing the point .... some users feel they are unable to run Fender FUSE™ Software because they have elected to use an operating system that is not supported.

I was responding to that with 2 options for running Fender FUSE™ Software on Linux: (1) Using a virtual operating system installation inside Linux (2) Dual boot.

Also, it should be noted that turning this into a "FUSE sucks so I'm taking my money elsewhere" thread isn't particularly on topic.

As would posting questions about what competing products you should check out to replace your Fender Mustang Amplifier.

Nice "gotcha." There, do you feel all better now?

I don't think we were talking about other software to talk about other software. This has everything to do with Fuse. Is it a feature request? no but still could be useful to others. Does it warrant another thread? maybe so.

anyway.

I tested this. Fuse 2.7.1 does install in VMWare Fusion. Connected my Mustang, loaded some presets, saved to amp and also did a Backup of the amp after altering some presets. All operated perfectly normal.

This is a test with VMWare Fusion on Mac. I believe this software does run on Linux so might be a viable option and it is not an expensive program. You can go to the site and download a free trial as well.

Strings might know better than me regarding Linux. I am not familiar with that OS>

Fair enough, I'm really sorry, but this is not a rumination thread. Everything I said was for Fender, not the five of us that linger here.
Bye.

OK, last post I promise. I just should have said this from the start;
I have been a loyal Fender customer for 46 years. I don't know whether this is another venerable brand gone south like the rest or not.
I can take a $100 used computer, put a little memory in it, run ubuntu studio and have everything from guitar effects to low latency full multimedia production.
For free, leaving my money to be spent on guitars and amps.
Does Fender want to be part of that or stick with their $MS and Apple partners?
Bye.

bjje, FWIW, you have a whopping 10 posts on this forum. All in this thread. And as far as I can tell, you've only made one request in those 10 posts. Your first post was May 18 and the most recent was May 30th. In the course of those 12 days, you've asked for the same thing over and over and then declared that nobody was listening and you're taking your money elsewhere.
