I previously had fuse 2.1.0 installed on my computer with windows XP SP3 and just updated to fuse 2.4.0 and everything seems to work fine with my mustang I but with my G-DEC 3 i cannot not access the timbre feature from fuse anymore,it is similar to changing the different cab models for my mustang I in the fuse program.

From what i remember i had this timbre feature in fuse 2.1.0 in the advanced amp settings, can anyone tell me why this is happening with fuse 2.4.0 and also how i may get this feature to work again for me with fuse 2.4.0?

Hi Metalman...
The timbre functionality for the GDec3 was removed in fuse 2.4, and I believe, has never reappeared. You'd have to ask Fender programmer(s) why this was done - the advantage of such a change is not obvious to me. I never upgraded from 2.3 for this reason, and from the various threads in this forum, this seems more and more like a wise decision from a GDec point of view. Some changes have helped Mustang users, but have introduced other problems there as well as best I can tell.
You can change the timbre setting via your GDec amp, but of course it's not as convenient when you are using fuse software to change everything else.
This sounds like a job for Alan Willey!!!
cheers,
Alex

You're welcome, glad to help! You'd better hang on to your copy of fuse 2.3...I couldn't find it as a download on the forum site last I looked.
Collector's Item....very valuable 8)
cheers,
Alex

I just downloaded it yesterday from fenders website, thats kind of strange that is is not there now? I am in the U.S.A and if you are in another location maybe that is why you cannot find it in fenders canada website for example?

AlexeiY,i installed 2.3.0 and it is better then the previous 2.4.0 version that i had installed before,i now have the timbre feature back and the syncing from my mustang I and G-DEC 3 are much faster now,i forgot to mention this in my previous post.

The only feature i know of that is missing is the usb level control for my mustang I that i had with version 2.4.0 but i would still rather have the timbre feature for my G-DEC 3 and a more stable version of fuse with 2.3.0.

Thanks for the info (and the link, which works fine here in my corner of Canada). I'm fairly sure - check those meds! - that it wasn't there when I last looked about a month ago when responding to another question about timbre. Go figure???
Also, thanks for your observations about the stability and speed of 2.3 vs 2.4...useful info, that 8)
I only have the GDec 3 30. How do you like your Mustang 1 in comparison to your GDec?
Best,
Alex

AlexeiY,you said: (How do you like your Mustang 1 in comparison to your GDec?)

I like both of them about equal but my mustang I has better overall amp models and a better variety of cab models to choose from and it also has a warmer tone with a better low end compared to my G-DEC 3 15w,it also plays louder then the G-DEC.

The pro's of the G-DEC over the mustang are the backing tracks, nice LCD display,SD card slot and the phrase looper with overdub,i really like this feature,i also like the amp models and effects in my G-DEC 3 but the mustang just seems to have better amp models to me and they sound better at louder volumes compared to my G-DEC 3.

Don't get me wrong the G-DEC 3 amp models sounds very good with it's backing tracks and there are some amp models that sound different then the mustang I amp models that i really like but when you compare these amps head to head on the amp and cab models alone i still say the mustang I sounds better but it is not a day and night difference,i would say the mustangs amp models are more refined and may also have better amp modeling technology programed into it.

Metalman,
Thanks for the comparison...much appreciated.
I've reached a stage (age?) where I don't see myself playing in front of an audience again, so I bought the GDec3-30 for playing at home and recording. It works very well for recording via the line outs. I originally had a GDec3-15 like you, but traded up to the 30 a year ago when Fender dropped the price about $100....I got it mostly for the bigger speaker and tweeter, but also the line out which gave me a better signal than the headphone out from the 15. Not that the headphone out from the 15 was bad, only that the line out is to my ears, better.
I'm also running the GDec via the line outs to a Zoom R16 digital recording/mixing unit and via that to a matched pair of monitor speakers. This allows me to hear the stereo capabilities of the GDec and they can be very, very good.
Billy Hell talked about this a year or more back....he was impressed, and so am I.
Best,
Alex
ps...since Fender has fuse 2.3 on the website, it can no longer be considered a collector's item!

Hi Guys,

The Timbre 'removal issue' from Fender FUSE is on our list to correct in the coming Fender FUSE update. This next update should be coming soon. Thanks very much for your patience. Please let us know if we can assist further in the mean time.

Thanks for the update Alan...much appreciated.
Did you by any chance have the fuse 2.3 download reinstated on the support section of the website? I was pretty sure that it wasn't there a month or so back and commented as such.
Or perhaps I really am crazy as my wife sometimes thinks????!!
cheers,
Alex
