That is certainly a possibility, aroach. We'll do some testing here with a German localized version of OS X. We'll let you guys know what we find.

Hi Guys,

I wanted to comment on the question of the localization issue possibility. It is unlikely that language/localization with the Mac OS is going to be an issue with regard to this behavior. But as we are continuing to work on this issue, we will look at this possibility as well. Thanks for your patience. And in the mean time, has anyone had a chance to create a partition and load a fresh Mac OS and try running Fender FUSE on a Mac that is having this issue? Thanks.

It might not hurt to "Repair Permissions" on your startup drive. Sometimes that works in cases where you've installed new software, and the application isn't responding.

Hi Strat Cat,

Absolutely, a Repair Permissions can help depending on what type/level of Permissions may be in question. Please see information below on this. Thanks.

Please try the Repair Permissions in Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. When you launch Disk Utility, select your start up drive (usually Macintosh HD) on the left side bar. Then go to the Fist Aid section. Then select Repair Permissions in the lower portion of the User Interface. Once this is complete, please try to launch Fender FUSE again.

I too, am experiencing this same issue. Performing a permission repair atm. My current specs are, early 2011 13" MBP, 2.3 GHz i5, 4 GB ram, with the Intel HD 3000. Going to try and dig through some logs, as I just got the amp two nights ago. Will post anything I might find, but doesn't seem to be a one off problem.

I think I found the problem, but the forum won't let me post the reply that explains it. Sent PM to Loren and Alan, hopefully what I said will give them a start on fixing it.

Just an update, Alan got back to me via PM and they are looking into it, but to recap what I think the problem is, has to do with case-sensitive file systems......mrguitarjammin is you system formatted case-sensitive??

I think I see the problem here .... false advertising:

Seriously though, everything runs fine on all 3 of my Windows computers (XP, Vista Home, and Windows 7). Maybe you should just dual boot with Windows and call it a day? I promise I won't tell anyone ...

HEY NOW!!! major Mac head here!!! But hey, I am different, I like Mac for its UNIX backbone (which IS case sensitive). Mainstream macs are not case sensitive. But hopefully they can get this fixed and get a product we all love regardless of platform.

ya man totally in good fun, I like both platforms for different reasons, I hope they can get this one sorted out soon. Macs are so great for multimedia/audio/graphics, seems like it will be a great fit for FUSE.

Hi dreilly1982,

While it is possible that there could be a case sensitive issue occurring here, our lead software dev. feels that this is an unlikely probability, unless you have altered file folders manually in regard to case sensitivity. I would suggest first trying a fresh Admin user account to see if Fender FUSE launches and behaves as expected there to confirm or rule out possible permissions issues. Thanks.

I have tried every option that has been listed on this forum short of repartitioning my system. As I have shown already in our PM there ARE case sensitivity issues proven in the preload BASH scripting. The behavior noted by the OP is exactly the behavior I am experiencing. (fender icon immediately disappeared after launch). This was caused by the script being unable to complete due to not being able to locate essential resources required by the script. Once the case sensitivity issues were worked out in the bash scripting the scripts were able to complete successfully and were able to load the actual compiled code (which wasn't happening before). Now all I can see are the output logs which tell me that the app is crashing due to the inability to find essential resources within the file system to run. Given the errors in the scripts that case sensitivity was not observed it isn't a stretch to think that there are not errors in the compiled code. I have not modified anything manually in regards to my file system, the only modifications that I have made have been to your bash scripts, and only to fix the already stated case sensitivity issues. Have you guys tried on the Macs in your lab attempted to install this software on a case sensitive partition? I am unable to repartition my system at the moment, and unless you have officially ruled that out and have tested copies working in case sensitive environments, I find it unfair that you would require the end user to repartition our systems.

Hi dreilly1982,

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback on this. To be clear, I have not asked you to partition your Mac. My suggestion was to try a fresh Admin level user account. I will be happy to forward your current post to our lead software dev., and get his feedback on this and get back to you. Can you please end me an email to the address below with your Forum name and your real name? And we can go from there. Thanks again.
