I found a really good article about compressor pedals online and it has a chart and includes what effect I am looking for. The only problem is, is that the attack and release knobs in the chart are using milliseconds while in the fender fuse software they are listed as percentages. Also the chart displays the ratio knob as a actual ratio setting (ex. 4:1) but yet the software displays it as number setting (ex. 514). The chart also talks about a knee and is given in levels of soft, medium and hard, what is the knee for a compressor effect in fuse? The chart is on this link, http://www.rane.com/pdf/ranenotes/Dynamics%20Processors.pdf , and is located on page 23. Any help would be appreciated.

The "knee" is the point of the curve,"threshold" when the compressor punches in, squashing louder signals and boosting low signals. It will take too much explaining in detail and I think you should just experiment with the preset settings available. As I don't know what you are trying to sound like,I cannot offer further suggestions without knowing what sound you are after! Get back to me If you wish! :)

Fatness - thanks for the link, that is some great info.

I've been using a post-gain compressor to add volume to weak presets. Now I have a better understanding of how to do that with minimal impact to the original tone.

While the values on the knobs may be in percentages, the functions are definitely the same as a standard compressor. The lower knob setting in percent value won't match up to the same position on a standard compressor so you'll have to use your ears for the most part.
