Hi Folks,
I am in Cornwall, England. I just treated myself to a Mustang Amplifier from "Craig's Music" at Bodmin. I recently got a Gretsch G6120EC Eddie Cochran Guitar (built by FMIC in Terada), and I wanted something to give it the sound it deserves.
Anyways, I have installed the FUSE software, but it just won't start. I just get a (mostly) blank screen with the vintage Fender logo, and "Loading...Please wait"
It just takes forever, and when I click the red cross to close it, each and every time, it's coming up "Program not responding". It takes forever to close down, and the PC freezes up completely.
I have XP Home...what can I do?
Any help would be great. I'm not really computer savy (I used to struggle with the old Commodore 64, lol!)...

Hey Mark,

Try creating another admin user account to run FUSE from. Most of the issues we see here are related to Silverlight and/or user account permissions.

Ok, how on earth do I do that? I cant even get past the "Loading...Please Wait " bit? MY PC has recognised the amp when I plugged it into the USB, but with or without it plugged in, the software does exactly the same... I have manged to run the AmpliTube thing that came on the CD, and I haven't even tried the other "Live" thing yet.
I bought the amp to upgrade my cheap/nasty thing as I have just bought one of the first Gretsch Eddie Cochran's that have arrived in the Uk. (been saving for ages for that!).
What worries me is that if I can't get the Programme to work, will my amp stop working?

Hi Again Loren,

I have just opened my "Add or Remove Programs" from the control Panel.
I have two Fender Fuse icons in the list...
The first reads "FENDER FUSE Size 43.18MB" and the second reads "FENDER FUSE 2.4.0.11 Size 69.60MB"
Would this have anything to do with the problems I have had. I got the programme by following the instructions on the Mustang CD/DVD...
Please reassure me that my amp won't break if I don't get this working.
Does the two listings in my Programs list have any bearing?

Hi, Mark. I just checked my programs list and I have both of those entries for FUSE and mine works just fine.

Your amp will operate completely fine without any of the software that came with it. The software simply adds to the whole experience. FUSE is useful because it gives you a lot of really tiny detail control over each amp preset. If you have a Mustang I or II (or the new Mini), you won't have very much control to fine-tune, but you can still adjust EQ, volume, gain, etc. If you have a Mustang III, IV, or V, you have more control of your presets from the control panel to change almost anything (plus, they're really loud!).

To create a new account on your PC, check this page:

Hope this helps.

Hi There,
I'll give this a go when I have a little more time. (I just quickly checked this before I'm off out).
My PC has user accounts set up alrerady, (1 each for myself and the mrs as adminstrators, and limited accounts for both the kids).
Is the theory here that if I rub out my account, and create a new one, the Fuse thing would work?

No, sir. The theory here is that if you create a new admin account (completely new account), and it works, then there must be something wrong with a setting in your old account. If it doesn't work with the new account, then it's probably an issue with Fuse itself. It's a way of testing whether your account permissions are at fault or not.

Ok, so what we've found out is that it's not an account permission. I think maybe you should get with Fender directly to fix it. They might be able to help you directly over the phone. If you DO get it working, post up what fixed it so we can help other people.

I'll see if I can find out how to contact/ask Fender themselves...

Hey Mark,

It can be tough to tell exactly where the problem lies. Try this: Uninstall both Fender FUSE and MS Silverlight. Then go to http://www.silverlight.net and download and install the latest Silverlight 4 runtime. Then run the Fender FUSE installer once again. This ensures that you have the latest version of Silverlight installed.

Hi Loren
I received the email and "patch" you sent me, and have sent back the file it generated. Maybe that will help explain the problem. Before I got the email I had tried what you'd suggested about removing it all and starting over, and that made no difference.
