OK- are you saying that you cleared the double numbers and saved it. Then you did a factory reset on the amp and you lost some resets? After the factory reset you restored the "fixed file" and you saw the preset # in the preset name (double number)?

If this is happening, the factory reset in the amp might be causing something to get screwed up in the amp memory then your fixed file is somewhat fixing it. The reason you see the double number is the preset number is being added to the preset name. I'm not using the factory reset at all.

For ex. 01 01_clean rhythm should be 01_clean rhythm in your backup preset folder. It shouldn't be 01_01_clean rhythm.

If this is true, then I think you can rename and backup again. I don't think you want a preset # part of the preset name.

Don't use the amp factory reset (hold down exit and restart amp). This is leading me to believe it's in the amp itself (hardware or firmware). If it's firmware related, we would need to get everything loaded and working correctly, load an older version of firmware, then do a factory reset and see what happens. This may help indicate where the problem is.

I may be wrong on some things here. I'm guessing since I don't have detailed software and hardware documentation. This is all trial and error and I've only had this amp a week. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about something.

I didn't realize this amp was going to turn into a science project when I bought it. I've been debugging more than playing my guitar. I feel bad for the people that aren't computer/hardware/software) literate. At least I like doing this stuff.

first of all lets see if I'm correct. You said open my backup file I used the one with my presets I made and renaimed. I changed the first from "00 Clen Lead"
to read "00.fuse" no name and did all 100 presets "00.fuse" "01.fuse" and so on. Is that correct? Then when I did a restor of that backup they showed up "00 00 Clean Lead" automatically had names and double numbers and in the order I put them. Then I went to each preset ,hit save took out the set of numbers that where ahead of the name so just the name was there and hit ok. Turned amp off and back on right away and second set of numbers where gone in the amp screen as well as software . Made a backup of my amp now when I look In the newely made backup Preset folder it shows "00_Clean Solo.fuse and so on. I allways restore to factory presets by holding down the exit button and turning on amp is that what your asking?

Yes - I wasn't sure if you had any problems backup/restore after a factory reset on the amp. Just monitor this process after the factory reset and see if you notice any quirks.

Ok did a factory restore on the amp by holding the exit button and turnig on amp. Back to new, then I try to do a restore whith the backup I made last, this has "00_Clean Solo.fuse" in it. This is what I get "00 99_Empty" "00 99_Empty:
"01 Whitechapel Heavy" "02 Intro Clean" "03 Bassman Drive" ect. looks like everything after is a factory preset.Just Restored back to the file we modified and all my personal presets are there in my order, but they all have the double numbers back. Just to see If the order of restoring would make a diference I Then restored amp to factory settings and then restored to the modified file and the same thing double numbers. But I'm with you I don't
even know If still no how to play guitar, but have to see right now , have band rehersal tonight so I don't think I can help anymore today. Will check tonight to see if you have any news when I get home. Thanks

Good news I think, went to my second computer uninstalled Fuse 2.4.0, uninsatlled Silverlight also rebooted. Installed 2.4.1 it has Silverlight in it will ask to install.
Rebooted amp with exit button to install factory presets. Then I opened Fuse software
plugged in USB from amp to load my amp in . Made a original backup of amp, copied my
preset folder from First computer over to second computer wouldn't show all of my presets so had to reboot computer and then they all showed up in Fuse software. Changed one preset put in number three slot and saved to amp. Made a sample backup.
Restored back to original backup, but when restoring it dosen't show progress just first
screen when restoring. Waited a few seconds and closed window and backup was there.
All the original factory presets that I made the first backup where there. So then I Restored to the sample backup same thing it dosen't show the progress but wait a second close windw and the number three with my backup was there. I thought I read,
someone was complaining about this and they said It doesn't show that it finnished, but
it does, and that will be fixed. I don't know what happened the first time installed but It seems to work now horay. Ok I remember the first time I Installed I coppied my backup folder and It wouldn't show up,I bet If I would have rebooted computer It would have been there. I was just to fustrated and wasn't thinking. Loren If you read this you where right, but I had tried 2.4.1 but I was so fustrated at that time. Loren Thank You for the help. Going to due some more tests and see where it leads hopefully ice cream HA! HA!

I have it working since I renamed the files and downloaded to the amp. There was something wrong with the presets in the amp from the factory.

On another note, I like the mouse scroll wheel working in the fuse beta. It makes adjusting amp/effect parameters easier. I hope they come up with a way to move presets to different locations in the amp, rather than saving to different preset locations. Something to do "mass" preset moves fast and easy.

I took a leap of faith and reloaded from several backups. Each one worked as advertised.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit OS, Fuse 2.4.1.24 beta, firmware 1.8, and on a Mustang II amp made October 20, 2010.

I would like to ask you guys that are having trouble, did you do the following:

a. Uninstall Fuse software
b. Make sure the folders that contained the Fender files (Fuse software) were deleted during the uninstall, if not remove them manually.
c. Reboot computer
d. Re-install Fuse 2.4.1.24 beta

Just for the record I recently purchased a Mustang III for gigging and liked it so much I purchased a 2nd one as a backup/studio. I went through all of my presets on the first amp and fine-tuned them and backed them up using Fuse 2.4.0. Backup and restore on the first amp seems to work fine, not the problem.

I downloaded and installed firmware version 1.8 on amp 2 and I then tried to restore the presets from the first amp in the 2nd amp, actually several times with various backups from the first amp. Everything acted okay during the restore (progress bars, completion status) however it acted like the preset write-counter never incremented in the amp during the restore and I would always end up with preset 99 stored in preset 00 location and nothing else changed (like it wrote all 99 presets to location 00).

I tried a backup and restore from the new (2nd) amp to the 2nd amp and got the same thing. If I do a LOAD and SAVE one at a time from amp 1 preset list to amp 2 using FUSE I can successfully load each preset singly however it prepends an additional number at the beginning so I end up with preset names like “01_01_British Rock”. I will try the fix you describe above tonight to see if this fixes the problem as I would like to be able to transfer presets back and forth between amps with the BACKUP/RESTORE functions in FUSE? One other note, I am going back to Guitar Center and buying the 2-year warranty for this thing!

Hey Guys,

We fixed a bug that was affecting the backup and restore functions. Try Fender FUSE 2.4.1 when you get a chance. Let us know if you're still experiencing the same issues.

Re-opening this thread...

Had my mustang III out of rotation for awhile. Brought it out today, did a factory reset, then was planning on restoring one of my sets of backup presets. Go to utilities -> restore, from the main menu of fuse, and nothing shows up. If I go into finder (on a mac) I can see all of my backups in the documents/fender/fuse folder by dates. I am upgraded to Fuse 2.6.0.22 and mustang firmware 1.9. Any suggestions appreciated, I have 100 presets and I'd rather not start from scratch!

Thanks!

Doesn't the factory reset set you back to the oldest firmware? Are you saying you did the factory reset and then re-updated the firmware to 1.9?

I did a factory reset. I then connected to my computer, which first prompted me to do the update to the latest mustang firmware (did that no problem) and then to update to the latest version of fuse (which I did, although silverlight got a little weird for awhile, rebooting everything calmed that down).

So I did a reset, then updated to the latest version of everything that I can see. Nothing listed where my backups should be.

OK, just wanted to rule out the obvious. You mentioned you see the old backups here:

mleffler wrote:

But you're not seeing them in Fuse. This suggests the backup files are not where Fuse 'expects' them to be. So you just have to copy those folders to where they need to be.

In Windows, the default path for backups is:

(My )Documents\Fender\FUSE\Backups

Your backups are in:

documents/fender/fuse

It might be as simple as creating a documents/fender/fuse/backups folder and copying the backups into the folder.

Or..... you could run the backup process and see where the files go. Then copy your backups into there.
