Hey Guys,

I"m sorry you're experiencing issues. Have either of you tried the new 2.4.1 beta version?

Not yet - I'm trying it tonight. Should I just uninstall fuse 2.4 with the uninstall utility, reboot, then install the beta version? Do you have any suggestions to update to the beta?

Thanks for your help

Yes I've tried the Beta version and it wouldn"t even showing the backups I had stored on my computer, but they where in my documents in Fender. Fuse,Backup. But I did uninstall prvious version first and also Silverlite then rebooted, before installing Beta version but I didn't think of rebooted after installing. Went right to backup and it wouldn't show anything so I uninstalled.
What is the correct way On/OFF when trying to backup I've tried both and It doesn't seem to matter. I thought I had a solution with the folder shareing
In Win 7 as far as setting it to share and thought I got It to work once but can't duplicate It. Ok looks like everything is working when you backup you see a progress bar on amp and computer, Restore same thing Sigmann22 what OS are you useing? I'm Win 7. Memory Lock If you save It to Off and use Exit button on amp It wil stay Off when you torn amp off and on again. Also If you close down Fuse software after Restoreing and see doubles 00, I think the doubles disappear. Now Loren do you know If Sigmann22 uninstalles Silverlight also and trys to install beta version will it ask to reinstall Silverlite automatically? Need to know answer on Memory Lock On/Off when backing up and restoring? Also do you have to be logged onto fuse software when backing up or restoring I allways am, I was just wondering? Sigmann22 I'm useing a MII and MIV and having the same problems on both so I don't think It's has anything to do with the amps. I think It's eather In the firmware or Win7 shareing the file with Fuse Software still working on It. If you could try too, two heads are better than one. I'm kinda new at Win 7 version I held on to XP so long because It was the most stable OS I ever used. But my son told me that Win 7 was great so I just recently upgraded about a month ago. So any help will be appreciated Thank You. But now that I think about It, If we see the progress bar working on the amp when backing up and restoring I don't think It's a file shareing problem I think It really has to do with the firmware in my opnion. Loren do you think you could talk to other people at Fender to help us out with this problem?

I'm using WinXP Service pack 3 as an admin. I've tried with mem lock on and off, but it didn't make a difference. I think mem lock is local to the amp when saving settings.

Have you tried changing your preset 99 in the backup folder from the preset 99 in the amp? Change the preset 99 in amp then try restoring a differnt backup 99 preset. I want to see what's getting written to location 00 after restore. I don't know since my amp and restore matched. I'm at work, can't try till tonight. It might not solve anything, but at least we'll see where the data is coming from. Maybe nothing restores from the PC backup folder.

I am having the identical backup problem you're experiencing.

I did some searching and I found a thread "hacking bulk preset dumps" to make different backup configs. I noticed that he said there were 3 files in the backup folder, effects, fuse, and presets. I only have fuse and presets, no effects. He also said the naming convention in the presets folder is 00.fuse to 23.fuse. I think he has a MII. My presets are 00_liquid solo.fuse, 01_whitechapelheavy.fuse, .etc. Maybe naming convention is different because we have 100 locations instead of 24? My fuse folder is 00.fuse, 01.fuse, .etc. which matches in his thread.

Hi this is prkay
Tried your test retored my amp to factory presets, 99 is Basic 2000 Metal, In 99 I loaded a Santana preset, made a Sample Backup, Restored my amp back to factory again, 99 is back to Basic 2000 Metal. Did a restore using Sample backup this is what I have 00 99-Santana, 00 99- Santana and on 99 is 99 Basic 2000 Metal. Then when i close Fuse Software Down and re-open Fuse Software I only have one 00 99-Santana and the 99 slot is still 99 Basic 2000 Metal hope this helps.

Loren

Should the backup preset folder have presets 00.fuse, 01.fuse, 02.fuse, .etc? My preset files are 00_infoname.fuse, 01_infoname.fuse, 02_infoname.fuse, .etc. Is this correct?

Hello Simann22
This is prkay any new developments yet, did the test I did tell you anything. I'm
getting like you dicusted with this, good luck on any answers from Fender. I ask an easy question about the Memory Lock ON/Off when backing up and restoreing and nobody has answered me. But they had no problem asking me if was Memory Lock was off. Why I ask? Does It Matter? No reply. One the main reasons why purchased both MII and MIV was this maun feature. Now It must have worked at one time in order to advertise this feature.Lets star there
can anybody tell us what the original ver. of software was used and what ver. of firmware was used when they advertised this Main Feature? If I don't get a response from anyone from Fender I'm just goinng to send both amps back the MII and MIV maybe when they get all of the amps returned thell respond to customers. Loren If you can't help us please get someone to respond to us that can. This is getting ridiculous already I've been working on this a week now.
And I don't need suggestions because I've tried everyting I know If you have someone read the posts thell see what me and Sigmann22 have tried we don't need repeat suggestions. We need answers even If you lie to us It would give us hope HA! HA!

I have good news..I think I have it working. I've backed up and restored multiple times. I think the problem is with corrupted or incorrectly formatted presets. I don't know if this is Fuse or firmware (or both) bug. I'm guessing at everything since I'm not a software/hardware designer for this equipment. I'm writing something up and will post tomorrow am with more details. Hopefully, this will correct your problem.

To try something quick. Rename all of you presets in one of your backup folders to 00.fuse, 01.fuse, 02.fuse, etc. all the way to 100. For example 00_Mesa1.fuse becomes 00.fuse. 01_5150.fuse becomes 01.fuse. Your presets will be named differently, but you get the idea. Then try restoring this preset.

Also congrads on finding something. Will try, when you confirm that I understand you correctly. I'm just worn out trying will try when I feel a little better, hope your right. I did upgrade to the beta version, but I got it to work with fuse 2.4. I'm at firmware 1.8 for all tests. Yes rename those presets all the way to 100 as 00.fuse, 01.fuse, 02.fuse, 03.fuse. Make a copy of the backup folder preset before you change the names and save it. You can then copy it back to the backup folder if something happens. If you get it to work, make some changes and back it up. Make more changes and back up. Then you can try restoring from these back ups. Still testing....

Just tried what you did on my Win 7 OS and It worked, I thought It wouldn't have a name, that would be a bummer with just a number, but It has all my preset names. The only thing Is It doubles the slot number In the read out screen and the drop down screen per example (00 00 Clean Solo) but I can live with that. Now If we can explain this to Loren maybe they can fix ? Good Work !
Now If we can come up with anythig else, or I should say you, got the job Beta Tester HA! HA! Thanks For All Your Hard Work. Hey I started with nothing, still have most of It left.

That is awesome news! There are others with the same problem. I hope they come across this thread and it helps them. The same thing happened to me with the "double preset" number in front of the preset name after the fix. You can fix it by opening up "00 00 clean solo" and saving in the amp as "clean solo." Do this for all 100 presets, then do a back up. You'll see all the preset names fixed in the backup preset folder. You may be able to go into the backup preset folder and just rename them in explorer and restore. I haven't tried this yet but it should work.

Thanks for helping with the computer testing. This helped weed out the PC being the problem.

I think there was a problem in the amp memory with the preset name, or the preset folder got messed up from the first backup. I've only had the amp a week and made a backup the first day I got it. I had several saved preset folders and none of them worked. I'm leaning towards the amp memory being bad from the get go since my backups are now working. If it was Fuse, backups would corrupt again.

I think I saw 3 of us here with the problem. I wonder how many have it and don't visit the forum? How many don't use the backup/restore feature and are aware there may be a problem with their amp? Between the 2 of us, we have 3 different models, MII, MIII, and MIV with this problem. I bet this is more widespread than we know.

Fender should investigate this with a new amp from the factory. I believe mine was shipped in this condition.

This is second time I'm wrieting this post the Fender site went down and loost
the first one. Anyways did remove numbers from each setting, rebooted amp up
and just the names no double numbers great. So I made a backup of this called "My Presets" cleared amp back to factory, restored "My Presets" lost
"00_Clean Lead" now it says "00 99_Empty", next "01 01_Clean Rhythm" is ok
I mean It's In the right slot that I selected came back with double numbers again. Ok restored the file that we fixed I mean took out the names and the blue dropdown list in software now starts at "00 00_Clean Solo" It's like the slots moved a notch because I had to use scroll bar to bring to top to see "00 slot" It showed "99 99_Empty" which Is now at the bottom of the list wich is wright. Just so you know I downloaded an "Empty" preset to put in slot 9 and 99 so If I where to footswitch to far up/down In live performance I wouldn't hit a "SCREACHER" hope this helps.

New devolpment, I just tried a test to add a preset that I downloade from Fuse
tried to put it in slot "20" just to see what It would do, and It wont let me the ok button is grayed out. Now I have the backup we took the names out loaded in amp now. I'll check If It will let me adjust one of the presets in there and save, get back to you on that. That seemed to work without a problem took number 20 preset just took out vibrarto in rack and was abl to save it. Also I saved It to my computer as a sample and It showed up in my "Preset Folder" as Sample. Just can't add downloaded samples, it problbly because we modified backup folder which no In memory ao amp.

Just did another test, jsut restored my MIV back to factor presets made a backup called it "MIV" then I restored the file that we modified to see what it would do and it came out ok. Then I said let me go back to the "MIV" file and restore it, did the same thing doplicated "99" but the rest where my settings from the file we modified. So I cut and pasted that bacup to my desktop so It wouldn't be the backup folder and I restored again the "MIV" file and it restored
duplicated "99" but the rest where factory presets
