I've had Fuse crash on me a few times recently...usually while changing settings...sometimes with an exception error message...sometimes not.

Then, it stopped running completely...just the blank blank screen after the loading screen...then it wouldn't even start.

I reinstalled Fuse...but it still wouldn't start. So...I remembered from previous Fuse problems, I needed to remove Silverlight first, so it would get updated. Perhaps I just need to keep reinstalling Sliverlight when this happens?

Now, all is well...for now?

Anyone else notice this?

Hey Joe,

Do you have the most current version of Fender FUSE which is 2.4.0? Also, you may want to update to the latest version of the Silverlight runtime found here:

I've been exchanging emails with Alan, and we spoke this morning. I sent him some logfiles and an interesting application error message to show to others in the lab. I've got the latest FUSE, and he mentioned the Sliverlight version bundled with 2.4.0 was recently updated.

I'll look into this tonight.

Thanks for the follow-up.

Mine's crashed too, and as far as I can make out I have the latest version of SL (it came in the bundled 2.4) I checked it with the MS website.

Do you have the solution yet?

Thanks

Dan

My system has Silverlight 4.0.60531.0, and the download site tells me that is the same version they are offering. I will check their site periodically to see if they have something new.

I got an email from Alan today, asking me to wait until tomorrow for a reply on my issue as he is waiting for a response from one of their developers. I'll share what I learn if appropriate.

Meanwhile, after a full reinstall (FUSE and Silverlight and making sure some other directories are gone), FUSE has been running for two days...but it may crash again...stay tuned...

HeyJoe

My problem is probably the same. What did you do to get it going again?

I've tried: running the Fender Fuse uninstall - then reinstalling 2.4
running the Fender Fuse uninstall - then reinstalling 2.3
running the Fender Fuse uninstall and additionally unistalling silverlight and reinstalling 2.4 (then 2.3)
running the Fender Fuse uninstall and additionally unistalling silverlight and reinstalling Silverlight and then reinstalling Fuse 2.4 (then 2.3)

All to no avail, a blank start screen.
I have yet to try reinstalling from the CD which came with my amp (1.0.xxx)

Will do that if I don't get any joy from Fender soon.
If you could give me any clues as to what you did that would be great.

Thanks

Dan

My problem may be a bit different...but perhaps not...it is a complicated bit of software at work here.

I usually don't have trouble starting FUSE. What happens to me is that a few hours after starting FUSE, it crashes with a very specific (and repeatable) application error:

CiceroUIWndFRame: sllauncher.exe – Application Error

(Anyone else see this, or is it just my specific configuration?)

This is why I started this thread and did not join the "FUSE won't start" topics. I can usually restart FUSE after restarting my computer, sometimes I need to reinstall software and it starts fine...it just keeps crashing after a while.

I have exchanged this information and some logfiles with Alan to pin this down further. After checking the internet(?), this error message has been associated with a memory management bug in a Microsoft utility. I'm waitng for some additional information TSL before doing anyting more. We could be near a solution or not. Which means I'm using my amp's presets and not using the software.

But...to answer your question...I have been able to reset all of the software by rebooting the system and then uninstalling FUSE and Silverlight (and checking to see that all associated directories are deleted), then repeating the 2.4 installation package. This seems to work for me. If you have never been able to get it running, the root cause may be related, but without this error message it may be difficult to say it is the same.

One other thing to look for is a Silverlight crash log, buried deep within the directory structure...TSL can help you look for it. If it says something about an "out of memory" error, you've got something to work with.

I have found that these posts are good to share information with the community. I have also found that one solution may not fit all, and the best way to get assistance is to contact TSL directly by phone or email before following my advice  . They will ask some specific questions and request some files from you to understand more about your system and your problem. They are busy, and may not get back to you immediately, but they can help.

I'll see what tomorrow's mail brings...stay tuned.

Nope I don't think my problem is that same as yours but thanks for answering though.
I have now found the 15 page long gripe list and realise I'm not alone.

I could imagine this would be a reason for Fender discontinuing Fuse, they must have to spend a lot of time trying to fix people's problems.

I'm not giving up hope yet.
