Ok, this is not a big deal but it's odd to say the least (to me anyway) and I was wondering if there is an easy fix or workaround.

When I use Fuse and also have IE (v8 on Windows 7) running, if I use IE to navigate to any link/site it causes the band playback to stop in the G-DEC. It can be re-started without issue but sometimes I use IE for instuction help, tabs, scales, tips etc as I am playing over a band track and just leave the band track playing as I use IE then jump back to playing. So this means a constant re-starting of the band playback now which is moderately annoying, though like I said not a big deal.

Any ideas?

Can someone from Fender please reply? I am finding the problem to be worse than it first appeared. When using Fuse the audio will simply quit (via USB) and no sounds will play through either the laptops's speakers or via the amp.

Additionally, whatever is creating this problem also renders the band playback mute. If I click on play through Fuse or directly via the amp nothing happens. The only way I have found to restore this is by disconnecting the USB cable and reconnecting. However, as soon as anything is played via windows e.g. vieiwing an instructional video on my laptop, the sound will drop again within 30 seconds or so.

Since I sit at my laptop and not right next to the app for practice (and use the laptop extensively for instruction, tab, etc) and control the amp via Fuse, this is rendering the G-DEC basically unusable for me. Please help.

Hey JN99,

I apologize for the delay. What you're describing sounds like normal behavior. You can either use the amp for Band Track playback, or you can use the amp as an audio playback device on your computer. You can't do both at the same time. If you play a Band Track and your computer outputs any audio (system sounds, chimes, beeps), Band Track playback will stop because either the amp or computer can utilize the audio chip in the amp, not both.

You can get rid of this problem by disabling system sounds in your Windows control panel. You also may want to disable whatever setting is causing your amp to be used as an audio device by default whenever the amp is connected.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply - my problem however isn't in trying to use the amp as playback device and band playback device at the same time.

Whenever I connect the amp, it defaults as you mention (how can I disable this behavior?) to audio playback device. I prefer this setup as the amp's speaker is obviously significantly better than my laptop's but within only a few seconds of playback of anything on the laptop, all sound is lost and from that point forward neither PC sounds, nor band playback will work without restoring the USB connection.

You can disable that behavior by going to the Sound control panel in Windows. Among the tabs on that window, you'll see an Audio tab. Click that. Under Sound Playback, the Default Device can be selected. Usually the choices are between DEC Audio and your sound card.

Does the audio cut out on it's own or do you have to click something in order for that to happen?

Loren - what was happening the other day was I'd launch Fuse (with the amp connected) and then go to YouTube to check out a video. The audio would quit within a few seconds and at that point the band tracks wo;udl not playback either (via fus or directly on the amp). The only way to restore the audio, or to get the band tracks to play again was by restoring the usb connection, i.e. unplugging an reconnecting the cable.

You won't be able to play Band Tracks on the amp until the amp's audio chip is released from the computer. I'm not sure what could possibly be stopping playback from the computer though. Everything seems to be in order except for that. Do you have the latest version of firmware on your amp? Does this happen with your browser closed?

Loren - I do have the latest firmware but can't answer the second question about this happening with the browser closed. All the issues I had were in viewing videos through the browser, which is when the audio quit and could only be restoered via restoring the phsyical USB connection.

If this behavior is limited to when the browser is open, perhaps some IE plug in or something is having an issue with the audio driver on your computer. You may want to try repeating the process using another browser such as Firefox or Chrome. That will narrow it down some.

Loren - finally got to play around with this a llittle tonight and it is IE related, though what exactly I am not sure. Playing back through Media Player is fine but as soon as I launch IE the sound disappears almost immediately. Have not tried a different browser yet but certainly will.

edit - just tried with Chrome and same result. Any ideas?
