Hi Ischenitte,
Thanks for the reply - Horse Tamer works fine. Sorry about the
false alarm. Just one query, though.
I get an error report when setting the backup location
and also when starting up the App. - it says -
" Only one top level element is allowed in an XML document "
I close this warning and re-setup the backup to Fuse, get the
warning again, clear it, and then the backup list appears - I select
the next Backup file from the list and the App seems to work Ok.
Is there a problem that I am missing some required prog or other ?.
PC running on Windows XP SP3.
Regards
Jim

Hi Jim

I think, the message you get is caused by an invalid XML-structure in any of the preset files. Maybe it's the same error that JohnR242 had (see page 3, second post, in this thread).

As I remember, there was something with kind of corrupt preset files, with could not be interpreted by the XML-Parser in HorseTamer. I would do the following:

-BACKUP your fuse folder

-delete all the backups out of the backup-folder
-copy one by one back and try again to find a possible corrupt backup

If it does not work:
-Try to make a "fresh" backup with FUSE and delete all other backups from backup-folder

if it does not work:
-delete all preset files --> try to open HorseTamer afterwards, if it works, try to copy the presets back file by file to find the corrupt preset

If it still does not work ... I have to think about another solution ... good luck!

I see that this is primarily an organizer. I would love to see the ability to edit the preset within Horse tamer, or even better the ability to convert GDEC3 presets to Mustang.

The reason being is I own both amps, a GDEC3 15 and a Mustang III. I have built some top rated GDEC3 presets and would love to be able to convert them on the fly. I know that this would require examining the xml structure for both amps.

This would also allow us to download any GDEC preset and convert them to the Mustang.

The issue here would be the amp modeling differences. For instance the Blackface clean I think would be the Twin, the Drive would be the Deluxe and the Dirty would be the Princeton. I think we could all work together on defining these models and the effects are pretty much the same.

What do you think?

I've looked at the xml structure and noticed that the FX parameters are consistent in both the GDEC and the Mustang. I tested this out by taking one of my old GDEC presets that I had a Mustang replacement for. I copied the parameter settings from the GDEC preset to the Mustang preset and the FX settings worked flawlessly.

The only things that would need to be mapped out would be the amp settings, as the FX are pretty uniform.

Hi BulldogXTRM

For editing the presets, I think the best way is to use FUSE ... HorseTamer was only made for helping me organize the presets, and not to replace FUSE, as I generally like FUSE ... there are just some points left there.

As I do not own a GDec by myself, I never had this idea of converting vice-versa. I only own two mustangs (a III and a IV). In that case, I would need some help, especially how the folders are organized, comparisons of the presets, amps ... I'm not sure if I can get this thing to work, without being able to test it ... nevertheless we can try it.

At the moment, HorseTamer just changes the presets in a FUSE-backup, by copying some preset-files into the backup folder. I do not change anything but the backupname in an xml-file. Is there a need to "map" some properties from GDec to Mustang, or is it just a matter of copying the correct files?

Maybe you could provide me some infos on GDec folder structure (or zip the fusefolder and upload it somewhere), so I can try to get a picture.

The folder structure for Fuse is the same for both the Mustang and the GDEC, it's the XML structure on the presets that differs. I'm trying to work the conversions out and doing it manually I'm having a pretty decent results with the FX settings, it's the amp model settings I having a little trouble with. Once I map out the XML conversion or the Fender guys fulfill my request and provide me with the XML layout for these two amps then I'll post back with a better picture.

Maybe if we could get some input on what the Amp models for the GDEC3 should be when converted to the Mustang it would help.

This is what I have from the GDEC3 presets. As I said the FX is mapped the same in both the Mustang and GDEC, with the difference being that the GDEC3 XML doesn't define the "BypassState" flag. So this should default to always being 1

I'll post later with the amp models for the Mustang.

Hi,
I can't get HorseTamer to start up correctly either.
I have tried many different folders, to no avail!
Have read the Help-file several times, but can't see what's wrong.
Using Windows 7 and a Mustang 1.
Always get the "........ is no valid FUSE folder" message.
My FusePresetEditor.ini looks like this;

[Amp]
Model=M1
[Folders]
DataFolder=C:\Users\Dator\Documents\Fender\FUSE\Presets

Any ideas?

Your pointing it to the wrong folder. Point it to:

DataFolder=C:\Users\Dator\Documents\Fender\FUSE

Don't point it to the "Presets" folder, it will find that and the "Backups" it's self.

Hi p90sdude,
Followed your instructions, but it still gives me this message;
"DataFolder=C:\Users\Dator\Documents\Fender\FUSE is no valid FUSE folder"
Inside the .....\FUSE folder I have two folders, ..\Audio and ...\Presets.

Any other suggestions?
Cheers / Chris from Sweden

HorseTamer is designed to work with FUSE backups and it is not finding a "Backups" folder - hence, the error.

With your amp connected via USB and turned on, go to the main menu in FUSE, look under "Utilities" and click on the item to make a backup of the current amp settings. Once this is done, you should be able to use HorseTamer without errors.

You can then make copies of that first backup and then drag and drop presets from the "Presets" folder into the slots of the backup in any order you wish within HorseTamer.

To load the backup set on to the amp, you would just go to the main menu in FUSE --> Utilities --> "Restore" and FUSE will bulk dump the presets to the amp.

This way, you can have several setups for different venues: churches, weddings, nightclubs etc. ready for quick bulk dumping to the amp.

I have Fuse and Horsetamer installed on a Desktop and a laptop, both running Windows 7 Home Premium ( AND LINUX MINT - only need Windows for Fuse!)

The laptop came preinstalled with Win 7 and the location of Fuse is:-

C:\Users\User\Documents\Fender\Fuse

The Desktop had Windows 7 installed by me and the location of Fuse is:-

c:\Users\jbloggs\MyDocuments\Fender\Fuse.

The best way to set the Directory ( Folder for you Windows Users) in HorseTamer is to click on the "folder" button in the Settings window and navigate through to the Fuse directory/folder.

Every computer could be different, depending whether or not Win7 is preinstalled by the OEM, or whether a user account has been created in the users name or for multiple users.
