Tonight I decided to work with my 6-String acoustic and thin-body classical guitar to see if I could get some decent sounds. I found some interesting tricks:

First, when playing thru the Mustang speaker, shut off the speaker cabinet emulation. The steel string sounded fine using the British 60s, the '57 Deluxe, the Bassman, the Princeton, the Twin or the Deluxe reverb. All were set to very low gain (1 or 2). I didn't try the Nylon string thru the speaker - that's for tomorrow.

Starting with the steele string the first thing that I did was:

Get rid of the Fender ASIO driver and replace it with the ASIO4All driver. Then set the Hardware buffer and resampling off. After that I could set the buffers as low as 288 with good sound, no noticable latency, but still some occasional crackles. Way better than before.

With the Steel string I used just the twin speaker with the mic set on axis and far.
I used the Mustang speaker emulation as well. This came pretty close to to sounding like the Mustang speaker without emulation and worked on all the amps listed above.

The real challenge was the Nylon string - Nylon and piezo don't go good together anyway. It seemed that no matter what I did I continued to get a high-end squeel.

I finally settled on the 'British 60s with the SAG and BIAS all the way down - but was still getting some squeel. What finally did the trick was to add Post Gain Overdrive with the gain all the way down. This seemed to eliminate the squeel - and function as an additional 3 band EQ.

After that I added the twin amp back in Amplitube - bass & middle all the way up, treble almost all the way down. Finally a sound that I'm happy with.

Tomorrow I'll see how it works thru the Mustang speaker.

I figure that if I can get these 2 acoustic/piezo guitars sounding good, my electrics will be no problem.
