I'm stuck using headphones to do my presets on my Mustang III. (Don't want to drive my family nuts.) So if anyone could tell me how Amplitude LE can be set up to best emulate the sound of the Mustang III's speaker, I'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Amplitube isn't used to create presets for the Mustang. FUSE is. Your Mustang is just an interface to connect to the computer when using Amplitube. Therefore, Amplitube doesn't emulate the Mustang speaker.

Basically, what I'm asking is how to set up Amplitube so that when I get my presets setup using headphones, they will sound the same as when I use the Mustang's speaker.

It's kind of useless to setup presets that sound great using Amplitube and listening on headphones, but sound like crap when I use the Mustang speaker.

The only thing I can think of doing is to divide the presets into 2 sets of 50 - one set for using Amplitube and the other for playing live.

Maybe the Fender version of Amplitube should have started with a Mustang speaker emulation first.

How long have you had your Mustang? It could be that the speaker needs to be broken in (common on all amps, tube or solid state).

Can you describe what you mean by "sounds like crap"? Is it distorted, too weak sounding, does it rattle? There may be another issue going on, as it should sound good either way.

What I mean is that when I switch from using Amplitude with the headphones to using the Mustang speaker, I doesn't sound the same. I have to re-tweak all the controls.

There's nothing wrong with the speaker. It sounds great once I've reset everything. But this means that for live playing all the presets that I've created using Amplitube & the headphones are bogus.

While it's true that the headphones are part of the problem - I over compensate with bass, there is a much greater difference in the over all sound.

Maybe I'd better try shutting off the speaker emulation in the Mustang and just use the Amplitube speakers with the headphones. If that evens things out, I can switch the Mustang speaker emulation back on for live playing...I'll check it out.

Have you tried comparing the Mustang's headphone sound with its speaker sound? Might that be a less drastic difference? (Is there some specific reason you have to use Amplitube to monitor through headphones?)

Certainly if you're stacking Amplitube's amp + speaker simulation after the Mustang's then you'll have a hard time replicating it via the Mustang speaker(s) alone, no matter how much tweaking you try.

If you bypass the amp and cabinet (and any effects) in Amplitube and just listen to the "dry" signal from the Mustang -> Amplitube -> headphone, does it sound closer to the speaker?

PITA
