Greetings...

I recently acquired a used Dell laptop and I am having a problem viewing the entire Fuse screen. Essentially, I can only see maybe forty percent of the Fuse screen and have no way to scroll around. FYI, I am a mac head, and Fuse works great on all my macs. I tried to find a way to change the screen resolution, but had no luck. On some apps, I can set a zoom level [example - 75% on Explorer] to resize a window to make it useful/viewable.

I've wondered if the root of the problem is my own inexperience with Windows OS. In any event, I would sure appreciate some advice here.

Cheers

Dennis in Ohio

Dennis,

Which version of Windows are you using? If XP, right click on the desktop and choose properties. From the settings tab, you'll see a slider where youcan set the display resolution. If you reinstalled the laptop, you may also need to download a driver to enable a higher resolution (1024x768) than what you currently have as a choice.

It sounds like you may have a NETbook, not a NOTEbook, and so far, FUSE won't show up properly on these screens. Fender says they're working on it.

You may be right, Bob. What model Dell laptop did you purchase, Dennis?

This is an Inspiron 1150. It is running XP. I surfed to Dell.com and downloaded and installed a few recommended updates, but did not find one specific for the laptop display. However, I did find a mode button, which allowed me to choose 1024x768 - but that got me stuck in 8 bit color mode which is pretty awful. I could see the entire Fuse screen but it was hard to work with in 8 bit, if that's why it looked so bad.

Still... it is progress and I thank you for the advice. Any other suggestions?

Man... I love my macbook.

Dennis

Dennis,

This appears to be a Windows driver issue wrt your display.

If you open Control Panel->System->Device Manager, take a look at the installed display adapters. If you are stuck in 8 bit color, you'll probably just see generic display adapters.

Download the video drivers for your laptop from Dell.com. There are usually a couple of different options. You could either try installing each one to see if the situation improves (reboot after installing), or try searching for the Plug and Play ID of what is reported in device manager to identify which display driver you need.

Hope this helps,

Telehound

Hi Telehound...

Yaay... it worked. Fuse looks great now.

BUT.... when I plugged in the usb cable to my Mustang, a wizard came up indicating I needed to install a Mustang driver for the new hardware to be usable. I let the wizard search online but it found no correct driver. So... I updated to Fuse 2.2, saved it to disk and installed from there, assuming it would install the appropriate driver. I rebooted the Dell laptop and also the mustang, and the wizard came up again. I searched the forums for mustang driver problems, but no hits. What am I doing wrong????

God I love my mac [grin]

Hey Dennis,

It sounds like the driver isn't loading properly. Try this.

Go to Device Manager. You can find it in the Control Panel under System on the Hardware tab.
In Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus controllers, you should see a "USB Composite Device" as long as your amp is connected and powered on. If you see more than one, disconnect your amp and take note if one goes away. That's your amp. Plug it back in. When you've found the Mustang, right click and uninstall it. Once it's uninstalled, power-cycle the amp. It should be recognized by Fender FUSE.

I hope that helps.
