Hey Guys,

I apologize for the delay. It seems that on some systems the Silverlight data on the Admin account isn't being copied over to the non-admin account with the new install of 2.2.0. You can fix this problem by deleting some Silverlight data from the non-admin account. To do this:

Log into the standard user account
Click Run in the Start menu (the search bar in Vista or 7)
type %localappdata% (including percent symbols) and hit enter
Open the Microsoft folder that comes up
Open the Silverlight folder in the Microsoft folder then the OutofBrowser folder
Delete the folder with fuse.fender.com in the name
Launch FUSE, it should display the correct version

Please let me know if that doesn't work.

Loren,

I don't believe %localappdata% will work under Windows XP, they will want to use %appdata% if they are running Windows XP.

Also, deleting the Silverlight folder would also delete any other Silverlight applications some users might have installed. I would suggest they open the Silverlight folder and then open the OutofBrowser folder and delete the folder with "fuse.fender.com" in the name. That should accomplish the same result.

Good catch Bob. I've revised the instructions.

Loren,

I Just tried this with my laptop and when I try to launch Fuse I get nothing, no errors, no Fuse, nothing. I double checked and nothing was copied, I just have an empty folder now. Fortunately I backed it up before I tried it

What worked for me was to log into the machine under my admin account, go to the Silverlight\OutofBrowser\ folder and copy the folder with the name "fuse.fender.com". I then went the Silverlight\OutofBrowser folder for my NON-admin account and pasted the "fuse.fender.com" folder there. The "fuse.fender.com" folder will have a different name than the one that is probably already there (they have numbers in the name). Make sure you backup and delete the "fuse.fender.com" folder that is already there in your NON-admin account as that is the older version of Fuse. There can only be one "fuse.fender.com" folder there as I am not sure what the launcher will do if it sees more than one, didn't try...

Hi Loren,
If I understand right, this workaround will only fix the problem that an older version (2.0.1) will show up when Fuse is launched without admin rights from a standard user account?
But after this workaround I still have to launch it with admin rights which means that the path for the presets/audio files is still the one in the admin account ?
Or is it then possible to execute Fuse without admin rights (as in the 2.0.1. version)?
In the meanwhile Fuse is no more a simple small programm to make music but a real technical PC issue...

It worked out.
I copied the fuse folder from my admin account to the standard user account, Fuse starts with the newest version by a simple double clickwithout admin rights and the standard path for presets/audio files/downloads is the one of the standard account.

Hi,
I had this problem after I restored my Windows 7 system from a backup (due to unrelated problems).
I tried re-installing Fuse but I just couldn't run it as a normal (non-Admin) user - which is the way I always use my computer, only elevating to administrator when needed for things like software installation.
Anyway, Fuse had previously worked fine after installing as administrator and then using it as a standard user.
In the end I ran sysinternals procmon.exe whilst both installing and then subsequently attempting to run Fuse as a standard user and what this highlighted was a whole load of temporary files in both C:\temp, C:\windows\temp
So in the end I got around the problem by de-installaing Fuse, deleting as many of the temporary files that I could in the locations above and then re-installing Fuse whilst logged in as a my normal standard user (entering the administrator password when requested to elevate permissions for the install).
Fuse now works fine logged in in my usual non-administrator account without having to select "run as administrator", which is the way it should be.

Hi croninsfc,

Thanks for your post here. Yes, Fender FUSE does require either an Admin account or Admin permissions to install and run. It sounds like you are good to go at this point. Please feel free to contact us directly if we can offer any assistance.
