Any suggestions for Allman Bros. sounding presets for Mustang III? I really like the sounds on the "Hittin' the Note" 2003 CD. I'm new at this and any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks t3s

I'm looking for the same. Just bought the Mustang III and am trying for the Duane/Warren/Trucks sound.

Can't say that I can help you more than to just state the obvious.

There are several presets in the online FUSE preset library - "Statesbourogh Blues" and "Derek Champ" to name a couple. Many southern rock artists modeled there sounds around these ground breakers so, check out other country rock/southern centric presets. Also, do some research and find out the equipment that these players used and then use the "Basic" amp models (that Fender has for most all the models) for those amps (or as close as you can get to them) as starting points and twiddle around.

Use your ears! Even the presets that you download won't sound exactly right with your guitar. Use these tools as starting points to get the sound your looking for - use your ears.

And remember, if you do create something along these lines, upload and share it with an appropriate name, genre, and comment - pay it forward.

Thanks p90sdude.

Good advise and I'm sure that the process will help me feel less 'overwhelmed" by the new guitar, new amp and my attempt at a new direction.

I guess I have to remember that I can't break it (by trying new set ups-configurations) and that I should not expect perfection first crack.

thanks again

I get a reasonably good Allman Bros. sound using the 'British 70s' with the SAG all the way down. The gain from 3-7, the Bass, Treble and Presence on 4, the middle on 7 and the blend at 11 O'clock.

I'm using Amplitube withe the MH421Sl and the Sonic speaker emulator theu headphone, so you'll probably have to tweak things a bit for live playing.

FYI, the 'Derek Champ' preset is supposed to be Clapton's tone on the Derek and the Dominoes 'Layla' album. He played through a '57 Champ.

Duane played through a 50W Marshall Bass head. I wonder how a Bassman through a 4X12V cab would sound? Maybe try the 70s British with the blend all the way to the left, and max sag and overbias the tubes?

I need something like this for the GDEC 3. I'm using it for One Way Out.

Billy, in your case, start with a Tweed Drive amp model and work from there, possibly with a Full Body or Full Stack timbre.

Billy, do you think you could describe your settings? AMP, BOXES, ETC the Gdec presets do not come over to the mustang side...what the hell!, or at least i don't know how to do it. your preset sounds like something that would help me. thanks

I think you can download the "Statesboro blues" preset for the Mustang.
