I just purchased a Mustang IV amp and I love it. I was wondering what the recommendation is for getting the Mustang linked up to the sound board/mixer.

I prefer not to use a mic since I want to use the Mustang IV's stereo effects. I know I can use the headphone jack, but that mutes the speakers. I want the speakers to be active.

Can I just use the L and R fx send connections into DI boxes (or just use guitar cables) then into the sound board? Will I capture all of the effects and is the signal in the correct format?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :?:

Hi, I'm very interested in this as well. I returned my mark III and going to pick up a mark IV myself as well, just because of the idea to record from the stereo FX Send (the mark III only has mono send). I tried headphone out, but it mutes the speaker and usb out is no option because of only being 16bit, 44.1Khz.

Hope Fender Support can verify if the signal out coming from the stereo FX-send is OK for recording (sort of Line-Out).

Regards, MustangMan

You can check out this thread on the Fender Mustang Forum:

I posted this same topic over there and got lots of responses.

The USB will work for recording, or the fx sends can also be used to send a stereo signal line out (direct out) to a mixing board or other device that can handle a line signal.

Thanks Kartes. It's exactly what I hoped for. That's why I returned my Mustang III. Now I have to wait till Saturday to pick up the Mustang IV. With this line-out setup I can record while having direct monitoring through the amp without any delay's and without the emulated speaker which is used on USB and Phones out.
