I purchased the Mustang I for light home use and some recording. Not a bad little box for $99 let me say! I am now thinking I may want a something bigger, like a III/IV. Given the fact the Mustang I/II are 16 bit via USB, are the bigger versions better say 24 bit?

Also as I am having a hard time getting a definitive answer shopping on line for the III/IV, what options for cab outputs do they have if any? Or is is t just the head that allows you to connect a cab? Every time I have gone into my local store to check one out all they have on the floor are I/II.

I have the V head. It is 150 watt with L/R 8 ohm outs rated at 75watts. Also has L/R effects send and return. If you want to use your own cabs you will need the head.

Others have said that the Combo speakers are "hard wired". But you can of course clip the wires and rig up a plug.

I want to get the mustang v head and i have the line 6 spider III 4x12 cab,it is 8ohms when wired in stereo for each output and 4ohms in mono using only one 1/4" input jack, when you say the mustang v has a L/R output at 8 ohms and 75 watts,do you mean that each output is rated at 8 ohms at 75w and or L/R outputs combined = 8ohms?

Each speaker out is 75watts - 8 ohms. You can use just one speaker out on a one speaker cab rated 75 watts or less at 8 ohms OR You can use two speaker cab with the speakers in parallel - i.e. one speaker per outlet EACH rated a 75 watts or less at 8 ohms.
