A good Leslie effect - rotating speaker - is not really easy to model as it has both time and frequency modulations.
Trying to get the "Badge" sound that Clapton gets when he cuts the Leslies in during the bridge/solo part
Check out the reunion concert footage to hear what I mean.

I'm sure it can be done using the effects available - not sure where to start.

Vibratone effect is just about as close as you can get. Search the Presets ..I have one
called SRV - Cold Chot ... or something like that ...just speed it up a bit if its to slow...somebody else has one up called Leslies cold shot i thik

The closest I've been able to come to replicating a Leslie with pedals is using a stereo chorus to split the signal to dirve both sides of a BOSS RT-20 which in turn was dirving 2 amps seperated by a few feet.

It is not easy for a mono speaker to replicate that Leslie sound.
I suspect the Mustang IV and V will have much better luck in comming out with a pasable rotating speaker sound as they are stereo amps.

The sine chorus is not too bad, or you can use the detune to get a slow Leslie effect. I wish the Vibratone patch had a fast frequency rate. It tops out at 6 Hz/sec, which is too slow to sound like a Leslie at fast speed. Are you listening, Fender? Please adjust the software! Mucho apreciado!

Yes!, FUNNY, just today I was working on that exact thing and I think I got real close to it. Try this out.
Blackface Clean
Modulation: Phaser
Tape Delay
Reverb: Large Hall
Play with these settings. Remember to boost the treble range to get that "bell" ringing effect.
Let me know what you think.
I also placed all of these FX after the amp. I used this with the Badge backing track. I think it sounds great

I think the main problem in modeling a Leslie is that it is both pitch and volume sounds. You almost need to tune a tremolo and a vibrato together to get close. If someone could model a really good rotating speaker effect it would be a winner
I think on the Mustang the Vibratone with either a 59 Bassman (Standing in for a JCM 45) or a 65 Twin (Used in the last Cream reunion concert) come closest.
Thanks for the feedback
Mike

It could be a close resemblance, perhaps with some work; however, having played with a real Leslie that was in a TV studio I once worked in, I can only say that speeding up and slowing down the rotating horns of a Leslie was the one major effect that would be difficult to simulate without some sort of pedal control.

Having said that, stereo and twin speakers will help to achieve the effect, and today's electronics are amazing. My Mustang IV (and Vs) will do this, but, I have yet to tweak the amp for this effect as others here have.

Where are all the mini Leslies when ya need 'em?
