Does anybody know, why people repost presets they didn't set up, with their names as authors?
This happened several times and I'm a little annoyed with my favorite selfmade preset reposted with the same title and setting but a different author's name.

Agree with you Jimi.

For the same preset, we find 3 or 4 times in the list, under the same name.

And most importantly, put what type is your presets.

for tha credit  (j/k) .. no, I think some people just click it by accident.. uploads on them. It happened to me a few times as well, but I deleted them once I seen them in my account days later. I'm more carelful now - I rename them

so it's me once more:

The reposting of presets goes on and I don't think it's useful. Not only because of the "credits" (but, yes, I'ld like to know what people think of my presets just by checking "my presets" and without looking for those reposts).

The other thing is that we don't know if the new ac/dc-preset really is a new one or just the same one we've got from three different "authors" that didn't change anything.

So wouldn't it be better not to allow simple reposting with the same title (something like "the preset 'ac/cd' already exists in the online database, please choose another title") to stop at least the "reposts by accident"?

And after all, what's the attraction of wilfully reposting a preset I haven't set up?

Well, I hope I'm not opening up a "can of worms" here but I'll go ahead and say this and see where it leads.

I downloaded the same patch from the web site twice.

When I looked at the "code" for the patches the first one says "author = The Real Name"

when I look at the "code" for the second patch it says "author = Bo Baker".

In otherwords it apears that once a patch has been downloaded if it is downloaded a second time it replaces the original owner with the name of the person downloading a second time.

I'm still not 100% sure of this and will do a little more testing today if I find the time, so please don't take this as true just yet - but "something" caused the second download to use MY name for the Author = in the Patch's code.

Bo

I tried this, but all that happened was, that a "(2)" was set behind the title. The author is still the same. I think it changes automatically when uploading. And, as aLinux pointed out, this may happen by accident.
