I just got my Mustang I in the mail yesterday. It's great, but I'm having trouble recording with the USB interface with Audacity. It simply doesn't show up in the devices for Audacity when I go into the preferences. The FUSE software is working fine, I just can't seem to get the recording to work. Please help!
Thanks,
Justin

Justin,

Did you load the fender ASIO driver?
I have the gdec-3, but I think it uses the same driver and that works fine for me in audacity.

good luck,
Dave

This is from Loren with Fender:

Quote:
Audacity isn't ASIO compatible but you can use the Mustang natively as an input for Audacity. In the Audacity audio prefs/setup, you should see "Mustang Amplifier" as an option for input.

Thanks Pictoratus.
I installed Audacity again last-night (forgot I already tried it before) but.. not sure where some people are getting the already compiled versions with ASIO support ...anyhow it doesn't work for me with the Mustang...but here's one I managed to work ... looks a bit more intuitive and user friendly as well:

OK ,... here's the trick. Once you have the mustang plugged into the USB you have to enable it as a recording device in your Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Recording(tab) then it shows up when you open Audacity

Good tip ..Thanks..But how can we record w/o the ASIO driver over USB ... I'll try that though.. If that works awesome...but I wonder why we even need ASIO for anything else..hmm

You might have to download it, but it worked for me.
I use Win7 with Audacity 1.3 (Beta)

The ASIO helps to eliminate the latency problem you can get with just using a normal line input or USB in this case.

If you don't see the Mustang amp listed in Recording devices, right click in that window where you see microphone and line input as allroypa1 pointed out and check view disabled devices. Then you should see the Mustang amp input. Right click and enable it and it will show in Audacity as a choice in recording devices.

Once you download the driver do you have to assign it to the Mustang? Sorry I'm new at this.

IT DOES WORK ..holy ..stupid me never even tried it before or maybe I was using the stable version of Audacity..so ..I grabbed 1.3b last-night an just tried it..and off the bat it recorded using my front laptops microphone ...then I went into the Audacity settings and enabled Mustang II coolness!!!.. and it started recording over the USB in better quality than Wavosaur ...no popping sounds .. so ASIO must not like my cheap Intel sound-card ..but Audacity don't mind.... in fact ..since this works ..I'm going to try Wavosaur again but w/o ASIO and see if the Mustang II is listed and just pick that instead. Thanks guys!!!
