I know certain artist's tone is up for interpretation, but I just spent the last hour messing with the FUSE software (which is super cool by the way) and some of the presets that users have made to sound like certain artists were way off base. Almost every SRV preset I looked at was some watered down version of what it should sound like. I mean, the gain on some of them was closer to BB and not Stevie. Same way with some of the EVH presets...they are just not on target. Just wanted to throw that out there.

I find the same thing. But not on all of them. I guess it depends on the author of the pre-set. I have downloaded some good ones, but I find that just getting a sound in my head, then messing with the fuse software works pretty good (or just mess with the software and see where it takes me). Also, you can take the pre-set you downloaded and tweak it to your taste, and save that.

Same here. I found one decent SRV setting, added an overdrive pedal and reverb, and with a little tweaking, it got me pretty close.

So much depends on the pickups, which one you use, etc. Try this out for SRV type tone. I was reading about the majic six setting (look it up, there is alot written about it). It suposedly is the sweet setting for certain Fender amps. It goes like this...
Set Volume, treble to 6, middle to 3 and bass to 2 (3x2=6). I was surprised with the tone, very SRV at least to my ears. Give it a try. I tried it on the Tweed, and Blackface amps.

I have no complaints ...I think there great ball-park figures ...and the rest depends a lot on the guitars, cords, picks, strings, fingers lol ..etc...that are used.. Goto Youtube ..listen to some Mustangs ...one there sounds incredible to me for SRV..just the reg. 59 Bassman setting ..crunchy wailing blues ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfAcu5Db-74
