No, I deleted it and tried to run Fuse. Still, the screen stays in this shades of grey mode after I choose the Mustang amp.

What I find a little disappointing is that the last contact by the Fender customer service was on Jan 21st and basically it wasn't help anyway. I don't think of the advice to kill my whole system as help. Now I have the feeling I'm ad acta for them. I send mails, shot screenshots, described the problem and did everything they said ... but my program won't work and they stopped doing anything about it. No mails, no message board entries.

Well, it was running so its pretty much out of there hands since ccleaner did the damage it seems. The only thing I could think of doing is edit the registry keys and delete everything to do with silverlight, fender, fuse, etc ..(time consuming) then uninstall .NET framework, Silverlight, Fuse .. perhaps (ccleaner or at least disable it) then re-install everything and lastly try updating the web browser ..even if its already current, try installing over-top of it anyways ..since some ppl got there Fuse running after doing similar steps mentioned above, then reinstalling IE. Best of luck.. I know its pain ..but it did run once so it has to work again (somehow).

Hi Punka,

We appreciate your situation. And it is not our intention to ignore you at all. The challenge is that in some situations, a customers computer can become compromised to the point that a reload of the OS becomes necessary to correct issues and restore a system to full functionality. This can be true, particularly in a case where the Registry has been edited/altered. Unfortunately, if experimentation or random editing of the Registry is done, the OS may not be fully functional after.

I will check back with our lead developer, and see if he has any more suggestions. I will email you with any suggestions we can come up with. Thanks very much.

Best Regards,

Would it be possible to go back to a date prior to running Ccleaner and loading fuse et. al. and do a system restore? I 'm not sure what CCleaner does to the Registry and perhaps the OS is compromised.

It seems that a retore would be a last "Hail Mary" prior to a complete re-installation.

It's just too sad - some of the "tools" that are sold just do more damage than good. Be VERY carefull of anything that deleates or changes items with no way to reverse.

Good luck . . . I feel your pain . . . Bo

I use CCleaner all the time on all of my computers, both at work and home, and it hasn't caused any problems for me. I'm thinking it's much more likely that a virus or spyware has messed with Punka's registry preventing proper use of the computer. If M-Bam & Spybot updated and run in Safe Mode can't save his computer, then he needs to do a wipe & restore of the OS on the hard drive.

Best of luck!
Bob

A System Restore was suggested early on but the OP didn't say whether he had tried it or not. If it's available it's a valid tool that may undo the problems CCleaner caused (by the OP's own admission).

CCleaner can be a useful tool, but like a lot of tools of this type, it can be destructive if used by someone that is unclear on exactly what the tool is about to do and accepts the default 'cleaning' without question or knowledge.

Take Gary Baker's advice; try a system restore. If that doesn't work or you are unable to use that option, save yourself a lot of headache and do a wipe and reinstall (after backing up your files, of course).

After a fresh OS (XP) install Fuse quit working for me. The Fender guys got me up and running again with this suggestion:

In the My Documents folder, rename the "Fender" folder to "Fender_old" or something else.

Not sure if you had the same problem as me, but at this point anything is worth a shot.

Well, it's been 3 weeks or so without any promised contact from the Fender service team. I think I can close this chapter now. Nothing has been done to fix the problem, I can't use my Mustang amp anymore in the way it is advertised. I'm really sad and can't even take it back to the shop anymore because of the time that's passed since I bought it and waited for a fix of the problem. The Fuse software, imo is a big part of the Mustang-experience and the amp alone doesn't do much for me without being able to dial in sounds.

This is the first time I'm really disappointed in Fender. I love the guitars (own two) but I wish I would've bought a Roland or Peavey in this case. At least they would've worked. Now I spend 100 bucks for an amp I can't even use properly in the advertised way. :(

There have been many suggestions on what to do to potentially solve the problem. I wouldn't call that 'nothing'.

Just my opinion but it seems you either haven't tried the suggestions given by people on this board (system restore, OS reinstall, etc) or at least haven't posted the results of those tries here if you did try them.

We don't really know if those suggestions would have solved your problem which, if I recall correctly, was caused by a 'computer cleanup' that you performed after everything was working in the first place. I don't see that as being Fenders fault or indicative of the quality of the Mustang amps.

I tried everything that was said here and in mails. I said, that I would not delete my whole system or something like that because I work with my computer, too.

Every other application I'm using works fine, therefore i think you are making a mistake by stating that it must be because of a cleanup program that has never caused me any trouble. I think telling me that I didn't try everything and saying that its the fault of a program is a bit shortsighted. Nobody actually knows that its the CCleaner's fault and I don't believe it should've been looked at as the reason behind all of this in the first place. After all I used it a thousand times before with Fuse not giving me any troubles. But I guess its easier to tell me that I did something wrong.

But its interesting that you're ignoring the fact, that there wasn't any type of contact because of this issue for about 3 weeks. And would you feel helped, if this happened to you?

Sorry Punka. We're really not trying to be difficult. If you didn't report back what you tried and what happened, there wasn't any more information for Fender to work with to help you beyond what they'd already done. I suspect that is the reason for no contact, although I would think they'd at least touch base to see what you'd done and your results.

Short of wiping & restoring your system, it sounds like you've done everything possible to make FUSE work. So I guess you are at the end of the road with the Mustang, since you don't have another computer to use and aren't willing to wipe & restore your system, which as a computer tech, I recommend annually anyway.

Best of luck with whatever you replace it with. May I suggest a Vox VT+ series amp? Good sound, no computer hookup needed, and only a little more expensive than the Mustang.

Well, but Alan Willey posted that they wanted to stay in touch. That's what I find disappointing.

And now it sounds like as if I a) restore my system or b) it's my fault all of a sudden. After all Mag 3 19 stated, that a restore of his system caused the same troubles. Therefore I don't see why this is now looked at as the only solution. To me this looks more like an ultima ratio kinda thing and that's what I don't like about it. And to be honest I don't want a Vox, I do prefer my Fender. I just wish my Mustang would work and it's frustrating that it doesn't for now more than 3 months and that's it for a company that always stood for great products imo. :(

Hi Christian,

It is not our intention at all to ignore you. It's been pretty hectic here with the launch of the larger Mustangs and now the G-DEC 3 Special Edition models. I'm sorry if you feel that you're being ignored.

The fact remains that FUSE worked just fine until you ran CCleaner. Even after that was established, we've offered numerous suggestions in numerous emails and forum posts in an attempt to resolve this issue. Even though we've offered our assistance to help resolve the problems that were obviously caused by CCleaner, please keep in mind that we are not responsible for the damage caused by other programs on your computer.

If I'm not mistaken, you had also done some registry editing on your own. There comes a point where so many steps have been taken, so many third party solutions have been tried, and the registry has been edited so much that a reinstall becomes necessary. That's why we recommended that you perform a "wipe" of your drive and reinstall the OS. I personally believe Windows is a "huge stinking dog" and I make a habit out of reformatting and reinstalling it periodically anyway. It appears that this is not an acceptable solution for you. I understand. I hope that you understand that short of that, there is not much left to be done.

Hey everyone,

I have a similar problem as Punka has. I use Win 7 and periodically run RegCure, because I find it helps keep the computer running smoothly and I've never had problems with this. I had some problems installing FUSE in the first place, but online suggestions helped me quickly fix that (it was a Silverlight issue).
After a few days, though, FUSE didn't load at all (the load screen just stayed black forever). I did a system restore and it worked fine again. But after a few more days, the same problem occured. This went on for a while, and every time I did a system restore, the problem was solved, only to come back again a few days later.
Finally, I figured out that my RegCure was the cause: every time it cleans up, the FUSE software refuses to load. RegCure makes backups of everything it deletes, so the last time I just restored the last backup it had made. FUSE works fine ever since, I just can't run RegCure anymore and it's now slowly starting to show in my computer's behaviour.
I have no solution yet, maybe I ought to try the suggestions made in previous posts here and/or contact customer service.
Obviously, RegCure deletes something FUSE needs, and I tried going over all the found entries one by one and putting the ones I thought were relevant to FUSE on the RegCure ignore list, but that didn't work at all either.
It is a pain in the $@!, this problem....

Hello,

Have you tried running a System Restore, in order to revert the system back to a time before the registry clean ups were done? Or better yet, identify the registry entries that CCcleaner is removing, so that they can be restored?
