I am trying to find a good Smiths/Johnny Marr sound from their early days (This Charming Man, Still Ill, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now) on my Mustang I. I couldn't find any in the presets. If anyone has a setting I would appreciate it.

Use a Fender Twin amp model and add a little bit of chorus. If you add too much chorus, it'll start to sound a little vibrato-ish. Just a subtle amount of chorus will add the sparkle you need to get Johnny's Smiths tone. I often use compression too, but as this isn't an option on the Mustang you'll have to do without. But the sound of the Twin and some subtle chorus is esentially what Johnny used live in the early years of the smiths (Guitar->Boss CE-3 + Boss OD-1->Twin Reverb). The overdrive probably isn't necessary for the songs you mentioned, though.

There are a couple of Johnny Marr presets included in the 100 presets that come preloaded on the Mustang III, IV and V amps. They sound pretty nice to me.

The Mustang I amp can load any of these.

Try searching either this forum or the Mustang amp forum, because somewhere on here there is a posted link to a zipped version of the 100 presets that you can download. It is a small file.

Any of them can then be loaded onto a Mustang 1 via FUSE, including the J Marr ones.
