Hi there,

I'd been trying to get my new Mustang to work with fender fuse for hours but I kept getting "No Amplifier Connected" at the bottom of fuse.
Thankfully I seem to have sorted the problem so I wanted to just make a quick post that might hopefully help anybody else who has experienced the same problem.

My set up is with windows 7 64 bit pro edition, so other peoples set ups might be quite different, but what I had to do was re-enable "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" in my device manager (I use some design software from Adobe and the updater that keeps all the versions to the latest doesnt work with this enable and that is why I had disabled it).

So what it boils down from my experience is check to make sure the above device is enable if you have an option for it, and as it seems to have something to do with WiFi set up and networking make sure all your drivers are upto date and there isnt some setting somewhere causing problems.

Hope that might help somebody having this issue,

Best regards,

Gareth

My reply has nothing to do with the Mustang Amps....but its funny you mention that...I have to do something similar to have my laptop go into Sleep and Hibernate modes in Windows Vista. I disabled the WiFi power setting and now it sleeps every time. Proves
Windows has its own driver faults that can potentially screw up programs. I never have a problem within Linux for Sleep and Hibernate.

Unfortunately it looks to have just been a coincidence. I turned the virtual WiFi adapter on and the next time I started fuse it worked, but now I'm getting the No Amplifier Connected problem again.

Hey Gareth,

It sounds like the device driver for the Mustang didn't install properly. In device manager, under Universal Serial Bus controllers, you should see a "USB Composite Device" as long as your amp is connected and powered on. If you see more than one, disconnect your amp and take note if one goes away. That's your amp. Plug it back in. When you've found the Mustang, right click and uninstall it. Once it's uninstalled, power-cycle the amp. It should be recognized by Fender FUSE.

Hi Loren,

I've just given that a go and unfortunately it hasn't made a difference. It's still saying No Amplifer Connected within fuse.
The amp and usb connection definately work, as it shows up in the device manager and I am able to record with it in Ableton live (albeit very quietly) - its just FUSE doesn't recognise that it is plugged it.
Its very strange, I even tried a roll back using system restore to the time when fuse once recognised it as connected but it still didnt work so it doesnt seem to be to do with anything i've changed.
Are there certain system services that need to be running, or not running, to ensure fuse works properly?

Many thanks,

Gareth

Hi Gareth,
Do you have another cord handy to try it with. Could just be the cord got pinched or something and one of the wires inside are broken.

Nope its not that, a different cable makes no difference but also I can connect it with this cable to a small netbook pc and it works (I can't use this though because the resolution is too small to accommodate FUSE and I cant see the effects chain portion of the program).

Oh OK, cause my webcam USB cord..got chewed a few times ..damn cats. Is there many other USB ports being used.. if so, try unplugging them and try just the Amp after a fresh reboot. Loren mentioned it a while back and It worked for somebody on this board with similar a problem. If it works, then maybe just move the USB cords around to different ports on the box until there all happy together. Computers can be finicky. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the ideas, I appreciate you trying to help me. I have a wireless mouse receiver in another USB slot, but I have already tried removing this as you suggested and it didn't make any difference.

Hmm that's weird. Something on the Big desktop PC is causing some sort of conflict. I wouldn't doub't its something to do with Windows updates. I should of turned Windows
updates off rite way cause a while ago it did a service pack update I remember and ever
since, when Windows boots up ..my screen flashes with some weird colors. Next time I reinstall i'm keeping it disabled. That or scan for adware and stuff ..or maybe some other program you installed is causing a problem with it. Not what you want to hear but its got to be something like that, especially since the PC meets all requirements and you have it working on the netbook, only the screen is not large enough, which its another issue being worked on by Fender at the moment.

The "No Amplifier Connected" behavior is almost always caused by a driver issue. Have you tried any other USB ports on that computer or uninstalled and reinstalled FUSE?

I am having this same problem...Win7 64bit, I also have wireless USB mouse/keyboard.

I've tried different USB ports. In my devices menu, the amp shows up (Mustang Amp, composite device). I've tried starting FUSE, then turning on the amp.

I've had the Mustang I for about four months, and I'm just now getting around to trying out the recording stuff lol I hope I can get this figured out soon (perhaps over the weekend)

Cheers,
Jordan

If the Mustang USB is being recognized correctly you should be able to go into your Control Panel and enable it as a Recording Device under Hardware and Sound Properties.

If it's recognized in device manager but not in FUSE, try uninstalling the device under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Just right-click and select uninstall. Make sure you're uninstalling the Mustang driver and not the driver for something else. After that, unplug your amps USB cable and plug it back in.

If it's not recognized in an audio program, be sure you have the Fender Universal ASIO Driver installed.
