Just bought a Fender Mustang II yesterday. Unfortunately, while I did successfully load the FUSE software onto my MacBook Pro using the included disk, for some reason I can't seem to get the computer and/or FUSE to recognize my Mustang II when I connect it via the USB, so there's no way to get access to all the extra stuff online.

I've seen a few posts about this before, but still haven't figured it out. Could someone be so kind as to walk my through the possible reasons for this and things I might want to try? I did double-check the USB cable, and it seems to be fine, as I successfully connected my camera to my computer using it.

I do have the latest version of FUSE (2.0.1). I tried to update the firmware as has been suggested, but when I accessed the place to do that, it didn't allow me to do so. Not sure if this could be an issue or not.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hey EWade,

Welcome to the Fender forums. It sounds to me like the driver for the amp isn't installed. This would prevent the amp from being recognized by Fender FUSE. You can verify that the USB port is working by going to the Sound pane in System Preferences. If you see the Mustang listed as an available output, the USB port is fine.

I recommend reinstalling Fender FUSE. The driver install should run after the Fender FUSE, Mono, and Silverlight installers finish. If that doesn't work, please don't hesitate to contact us directly using the contact info in my signature. We are here to help with any issues you may have with the amp.

Loren

Thanks for responding, Loren.

The good news is that I just tried the first part of your suggestion. Went into System Preferences and did confirm that my Mac does recognize the Mustang!

Now onto the second part. Am crossing my fingers that this works...

Hey Guys,

Is Fender FUSE still not recognizing your amps? Have you tried to reinstall? I'm pretty convinced there's something funny going on with the driver in both cases.

Go to /System/Library/Extensions and see if there's a FenderDriver.kext and a FenderMustangDriver.kext. If the files are there, trash them, empty your trash, and run the Fender FUSE installer once more. If the files aren't there, that would explain why there's no connectivity. I hope that helps.

I purchased a Mustang III and installed Fuse on my MacBook with the latest system software - Mountain Lion. Fuse did not recognize my Mustang III so I re installed the software. I've tried the previous recommendations, but continue to have the same problem. I downloaded and installed the latest version of Fuse for the Mac. In my sound panel I find no output for Mustang amplifier, but do find a selection for the Mustang in the input.

Any known workaround here? Thank you.

Pete

Additional info to my previous post: I did a search on my MacBook Pro for the 2 files: FenderMustangDriver.kext and FenderDriver.kext but nothing appears, even after a re install.
Is this an issue with the recently released Mac Mountain Lion system software? Further searching has not yet produced any clarifications on this issue.
Thanks.

Hi dpete210,

Thanks for the updated reply. I would suggest that you install our latest public beta build of Fender FUSE. You can find that via the link below. This newer build no longer uses the Fender driver.kext files. Please check this out and let us know how it goes. Thanks very much.

I removed the previous version of Fuse that I had installed from the Fender downloads, downloaded the recommended update and installed and that seems to have solved the problem. Thank you.

For anyone else who may have this same problem with getting Fuse to connect with Mountain Lion system software on the Mac, the version that was not connecting was 2.6.0.22 and the version that I installed and that works on my Mac with Mountain Lion is 2.6.1.35 (see the link in the reply above). After successful connection with Fuse, I was able to update the Mustang III.

It appears that things are now working as they should.

Thanks,
Pete
